- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

To that all I have to say is:DaCoolGohan wrote:Making videos coherent isn't my style.
So I was commenting on this deviant's work a while back and the piece consisted of random shapes, colors, and overall had a bland composition (it had some badly proportioned anime girl thrown in there too...sitting on or humping a moon. It was hard to tell). I left those points on a comment to her, and she replied with this:
"its only abstarct. i can d whateve i want with abstract. and if you dun undersatnd it you suck. lol".
I almost experienced a seizure caused by this stupidity. So, if your art sucks, call it abstract and that will devoid you of all planning and actual work that goes into making art. Even abstract pieces have to follow guidelines if the artist wants to make it look at least half-assed. What pisses me off is that these lazy fucks think they can get by it and only use the word "abstract" as a mask to cover their poorly executed work.

Well, some people make them to be artistic (I highly suggest this video and this video as examples), but one doesn't have to.DaCoolGohan wrote:When did AMVs become art?

Yeah I know they can be artistic but that guy was quoting something about art not just something that may have artistic qualities. This video was not attempting to be artistic and I don't know why everyone thinks AMVs are supposed to be artistic as a rule. It should only be considered artistic if that is what the editor intended and even then its hit or miss.

Anyway, the video, I didn't like it so much. Kinda... boring really.
Lots of cuts, not that much enjoyable action. Some parts were not even action-y, which was boring, but other parts were so filled with action I didn't know what I was watching... which was also boring. =/

Just watched it.
Definately to be watched again and again
4.5/5
I generally like action videos and you make good ones. I've been reading this topic and I got a bit confused as to what this fuss is about...
It is not comedy is it? Action can be either serious or funny or whatever. It is not about whether something is art or not, right? You like it you watch it you don't like it you don't watch it! Pretty simple IMO

Oh ffs, how the hell is this not a coherent pure action video? It starts with a freakin' space battleship fight and the only not-action scenes make out like 10% of the video and are exactly placed where the beats change to a softer vibe. Besides, this isn't random, this is a very old method to make overused animes look fresh by just for once not following the exact same storyline the anime provides. He just lined up the different action sequences from the movie differently and that makes it too random for an all out action video to some random punk rock music? See that doesn't make any sense for me.AtomX wrote:Alright, but at least make it coherent. I'm not saying a straight-up action video has to have a "story", but it should at least flow with some sort of meaning. But as it is, all you have here is purely random scenes, cutting on beats... Thats basically it. It just doesn't flow with the overall tone of the song.
The only thing I always see in these threads is dbz name + shitty musical taste = let's hate. I can see why people wouldn't like DCG's videos but don't make up fake logical reasons as for why it's not your cup of tea, IMO there's nothing to improve on a style that's just supposed to give the viewer random action on random rock music.
On the video: You know I don't like this kind of music but I was able to nod my head to the whole thing this time so nice work as always.
