Rainy Season (Spirited Away/Vienna Teng)

It's another of those concept-based vids I'd been developing in my head a bit, and this will definitely not be everyone's cup of tea. It's pretty old-school, for one, which I know is not a style everybody enjoys.

Hmm.. it was alright... not a fan at all of the little squares and circle masks you put in there. As for the 'old school' comment, I would not consider this old school by a long shot. 'Old school' videos relied on straight cuts and only a few fades, if any, your use of masking, fades, and blurs takes it out of the old school realm really quick for me. I would've actually preferred it better if it didn't have most of the masking that you added and just stuck to the straight cuts.

I agree with Jay. I think the video would have been more powerful without the masked images, and just the straight cut/fades. But still, overall I actually quite liked it.

I'm impressed, I think it has better flow than anything you've done so far, the mask near the end is a little "zigzagged" on the edges and some of your mattes (or what ever they are called in I-movie needed a liitle more work.
But you know what it works for me... keeping and adding to my everyday playlist
ps the music is great!

Hehe, I know why you said it might be to oldschool for ppl but I guess I still have some love left for a bit simple & touching editing. Glad I decided to watch this, it's not perfect in terms of editing but I somehow like it.

The word "touching" here means the world to me. That you feel that way about it means I must've done something the way I wanted to. Thanks alot!

Still don't like any of the effects you used, really. They all look intrusive and distracting. The video is pretty good besides that, although it kinda breaks down near the end...I know you were having trouble with the scene selection, and in my opinion what you have near the end is kinda random and nonsensical...from 3:12-3:38 is kinda 'meh' to me. Overall though, good video, I'm eager to see what you'll come up with now that you have FCE

You should rewatch it though, if you think the ending is non-sensical, because I was actually pretty happy to find a way to make that part fit in the story. Figure it out :O

that was cool . The edition wasn't aimed to the beat synch (except in some parts), but the lyric synch and the atmosphere of the AMV was just great, I really liked how you pulled this one off ^^. Also the ending with the texts was a nice addition to finish the AMV... "it was just a dream" . Great song BTW

You're absolutely right that technically, this isn't old-school at all. But I still feel that most of the vid has a pretty old-school "feel", owing to the pacing and focus on story of it.

Not many people seem to like the various overlays segment. I could have listened to my beta-testers on that one, but I happen to like it alot. I'm a selfish bastard

I love this song and the way you put it together with the anime is great. Yeah, its not that great editing-wise, but i like the video overall. I'm glad you made that ending, it made the video a lot more understandable, and i liked the way it was executed.

Not really my cup of tea, but I did find the mood of the video rather interesting. My only nag with the ending is that having seen the movie, my focus also turns towards the flowers instead of it being a scene of her waking up from a dream.

ooh nice job.. i like the whole dream spinoff... beggining seemed random at first but the second time i watched it i got the whole eye closing (that was awesome) and basically it just made more sense.. and hmm i like it lots.. though you abused the cookie cutters =P

Nice job overall, Greggus. It had a gentle atmosphere that went well with the general editing style. The segment from 1:45- 1:55 seemed a bit out of place with all the geometric work there. Just a heads up, there's macroblocking or something in the xvid at 2:31. But yeah, good stuff.
