Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

It doesn't take long to upload your video to this site as long as you don't have dialup. Either way it is significantly quicker to upload your video to this site once instead of constantly uploading it to other people each time someone else wants a copy. Not to mention more people will see it since emailing someone to obtain a video is more troublesome than simply downloading a video already on the site.

Yes, think of it this way...Kalium wrote:Even if you do, it's significantly easier to upload it to one place one time that repeatedly to sendit.sunSTARizumi wrote:ummm....Corran wrote: as long as you don't have dialup.
#1: Hosting the video on our local server
Upload your video to the site at dialup speed ONCE.
People downloading your video from the site = Receiving your video at whatever speed they can handle (from dialup speed up to broadband speed) without having to bother you to send it to them.
#2: Asking you directly for the video
Sending your video to the person asking at dialup speed every time someone asks. This also means that you have to be available to send it to them or re-upload it to that sendit site. And if you have less than 10 minutes of PC time per day/week/month/period of time, that doesn't mean much exposure for your video.
You say your video is 17 MB? When I used dialup, I'd get about a 5 kb/second transfer rate on a good day. That's almost an hour to transfer the file. If you want your video to be seen by as many people as possible, do you want to have to transfer it for an hour for everyone that asks? And would your potential viewers want to download it if it'll take them an hour to get it? If you even have the time to do so?
My favorite video: Grilled Steak Trigun I LOVE THE COPS! Rargh!

Just to note, there is one legit reason to not use local. If you upload to local you lose a little control. If you decide you no longer want the video avalable later you can't remove it. I suppose you could lie and claim you have a remastered version but I imagine the admins would get ticked at that.
