How awesome, Real life in a video. Reminds me of the everyday News when someone kills themselves because of bullying.
Well anyways, it was amusing.

Thanks for the replies guys. Definitely not the most re-watchable thing ever made, but I'm glad you guys liked it. If 'liked' is the proper word to use. I'm glad it's being accepted for what it was intended to be at least.
EvaFan wrote:Schizophrenia usually involves voices trying to persuade people to deal with problems (usually in a wrong way, sometimes murderous) not constantly subject them to social status torture. I've never heard or seen anything like this before but I guess it could happen in the case of bullying at a young age and just absorbing it over time or someone who is a stage beyond worrying about what others think of them.
It's no secret that my wife has mental issues. The video originated in my research of that. I kept running into dry and remote descriptions of the voices, like the text used in the intro. I wanted to know what it's really like to hear them. Everything I saw that tried to show a first person perspective on the voices was so off base that even I, who do not hear voices, knew it was wrong. So I talked with several people who hear/heard voices. I lurked in a schizophrenic support forum for almost a year; many of the more extreme lines I used are word for word exactly what schizophrenics reported hearing. I included a mix of voices commenting on what's happening and voices that are, basically, just random because that's what I saw schizophrenics say they heard. At least three people who hear voices saw a mostly complete beta. None had any suggestions on what I could do to make it more accurate. At least two really wanted me to release the video so they could show others what it's like, which really is the only reason I did release since I know the typical AMV audience will hate this video.

That being said, I did not accurately portray all forms of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia covers a wide variety of delusions and voices and not everyone experiences it the same. I mostly skipped the protective and friendly voices, although there's a small hint of them in the video. I skipped anything to do with auras because, honestly, even though more than one person mentioned it I never did really figure out what exactly they meant. Not enough to try showing it in the video at least. I also skipped delusions of grandeur, such as believing you're chosen by god or something similar. There's also the issue of severity. Some only hear voices and don't see things. Some are only affected in times of stress. Some are, if anything, even worse than what I showed. Some have such weird delusions I didn't even try including them because everyone would think I was making shit up, like the guy who reported hearing his sink sing to him whenever he was shaving or the girl who was convinced she was pregnant (she wasn't) and the father was Jesus and Fifty Cent (yes, both of them were daddy to the same child).

Anyway, point is, I may not have accurately portrayed the type of voices you heard, but I believe I did accurately portray the paranoid subtype of schizophrenia.

Also I'll note that while I was watching this the first time, when the female teacher came in and said "Lain are you paying attention?" I first heard it as "Blain are you paying attention?" and it scared the shit out of me.

First amv I've seen in a long time that grabbed me and shanked me multiple times while watching, seriously fantastic job. I know a human being could not have just made this in one sitting. But it is a big world, maybe I'm wrong for other editors... :uhoh:

You know what, I really wouldn't believe you if did because that alone is crazy as fuck, especially since I hate 50. When did that happen?

Personalized AMVs are the wave of the future.
