Anime: Mostly Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star. I used a scene from S.E. Lain in the beginning.
Song: "Empire" by Queensryche
Theme:
It portrays a world in which law enforcement is highly neglected by its leaders. It would almost seem as if a blind eye is turned to this issue all for profit. ("Tear it all down, we'll build it up again").
The government sees vigilantes as a far greater interference. Gene stands alone as the star vigilante who fights against the criminals while being targeted by a government conspiracy at the same time. ("Can't someone here stop it?")
All the while violence escalates in the streets between rival gangs.
Many civilians flee while others stare hopelessly out the window, witnessing the end of an era.
As you can tell by the theme, I focused a lot on storytelling. I used this technique over pure fast-paced action because it seemed to fit the song best.
Looking back on it, there are some scenes that I am very pleased with and others that bother me. I may decide to redo certain parts in the future.
Opinions are always appreciated.
