Excel Saga: How bizarre

Post by LenWidleheyt » Thu Feb 03, 2005 9:15 am

This is a comedy AMV with footage from Excel Saga to the song "How Bizarre" by OMC. The title is "Excel's Middle Name", for reasons that should be obvious . Please go ahead and waste 4 minutes of your life with this!

I'm quite happy with the way this turned out, especially considering this is my very first AMV. I've probably made a bunch of n00b mistakes; I'm aware of some already, but I think this vid is still enjoyable. I'm real happy with the lip-synch; it wasn't half as difficult as I thought, just tedious.

Thanks to AboluteDestiny's and ErMaC's guides, the quality turned out real nice, too.

I've gotta say, it's very good for a first video. Especially the lip synch; I've seen relatively few who manage to do it as cleanly, especially the first time around. I wouldn't have thought someone could do as much lyric sync as you managed on a song like "How Bizarre", so I'm definitely impressed. Look forward to seeing your future work as well.

Thanks a lot! It's so encouraging to get good opinions (especially since I was wallowing in naval-gazing by the time I had finished with the vid). I've been encouraged by other people as well, so I'll definitely be making more amv:s in the future, and hopefully take it slower and put more time into the work then. (This time I was just so anxious to finish that I hardly ever stopped to rethink anything.) I have a couple of ideas I'm just itching to make...

I had a look at your "Legend of Trogdor." Who in the world made that song? It's hysterical!

Greetings,
Len

Whaa ? You've never seen Trogdor ? You must watch it, in all its majesty - http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail58.html.
And the rest of the Strong Bad E-mails are pretty great too.

I enjoyed this video a lot as well. You complained that you didn't hit enough of the lyrics but I think you did a fine job. :)

My first impression: "Wow, somebody Deened and mfTooned the hell out of this." :P
But after the first half a minute or so, it looked totally fine, not overdone at all. Nice. :)

Story? No. Effects? No. Amusing? Heck yes.
We could use more videos like this these days.

I approve. :D

It warms a n00b's heart to get a good opinion from one of the best. And, having seen "Dueling Videos" I have no doubt that you are just that. I fell in love with it instantly! I didn't leave an opinion because it had 58 (!) already, but I have nothing but praise for it. On my account, Queen's version would have sufficed in itself to make an awesome video, expecially with the Great! Great! Great!! use of effects during the intro/outro and most of the FLCL/Queen parts. Straight to my top-three!
