This is my first AMV ever, though it went through a few iterations ^_^;
A semi-serious parody of the Troy trailer.

Title: Is love worth fighting for?
Song: Troy Trailer (2004)

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.

I forgot to add, it's divx encoded with mp3 audio, and only 6.5 Mb.

Any feedback is welcome ;)

Well...it started out pretty slow. When it got to the action though, the editing was good. Since there were no real sound effects or voice overs in the trailer, you really couldn't synch those up. And considering how crappy WMM is (trust me...I've used it too), it 's pretty good. The sword fight scene reminded me of the actual movie where Hector/Paris fight Menalaus, which was cool.

Thanks for watching a noobs amv :D I know the start is slow, but I was trying to match the "feel" of the original, which is even slower (10 seconds shot of the Greek fleet!) There were some sound effects though; a "woosh" were some Greek fire is thrown (that I tried to match to the churchtower exploding), some crowd cheers (couldn't do much with those), and then the "wooshes" for Bradd's and Orlando's names zooming past, which I matched to the fork and watch flying. I'm rather proud of those two clips and how they match the wooshes (it's a pity the watch clip wasn't a tad longer)... And there was the opening narration, where I show the queen when she is mentioned (something the original doesn't do, inexplicably).

I have to agree with you on the limitations of WMM. I heard there is a WMM2 that is supposedly better and allows transition effects, but I couldn't get it yet because SP2 is not yet available for my language version of XP :(

Sorry about replying to myself, I guess I'm spoiled by other forums where you can edit your posts after making them... (hint)

I also wanted to ask, do you think I could have realistically made the start less slow? There is a big change in pacing for the music about 1/3rd in the trailer, I kind of think it would look bad if I used the same fast editing pace before the music picks up. What do you think?

I wish I could say I did it because Noir also picks up speed only after episode 10, but that wasn't what I was thinking of when I did the editing :lol:

WMM2 has been out for at least a year now, and you should be able to get it from the main Windows Media site. It's WMM2.1 that only comes with Service Pack 2.

I'm sure you're right, but I only started to care recently (noob, first AMV and all) ^_^;;

It is my understanding Microsoft no longer offers WMM2 for download as of August (I apparently missed it by a few weeks) and instead refers people to version 2.1 in SP2. Are you aware of a place I can still download WMM2?

I just got mail back from Microsoft's customer service, and they promise SP2 update by september 21. I guess I can wait that long... still not nice of them to remove WMM2 before they got SP2 ready for everyone.

BTW Scintilla your guide helped me - thanks!
