oOoo very nice video. Concept is fresh and the editing is dead-on. Not to mention that you have just about the cleanest Escaflowne footage I've ever seen. *__* Definitely shows that you don't need Premiere to make great AMVs.

Technical aspects aside, I really liked your focus on Folken and Van. (In fact a few months ago I considered starting a Van/Folken character profile - "I'm Still Here" by Johnny Rzeznik seemed like a fitting song.) You used a lot of scenes that aren't in most Esca AMVs, and you managed to portray a storyline without giving away massive spoilers. Great job! This is now one of my favorite Escaflowne videos.

Hmm... think you'll ever make an XviD render of Tomoe In The Moonlight?

muchos gracias ^_^

I made a cleaned up huffyuv version of tomoe in the moonlight and submitted it to rose4emily for the project. i doubt i'll be making a distro xvid version though. the problem is that my source was encoded in divx (i had to rip it from my friend's dvd, and he was only visiting for a week and i did not have much space on my comp at the time). once rose4emily encodes the project, that will probably be about the best quality i could get anyways.

go for the rzeznik video if you're still interested. i'm sure it'd rock.

Excellent video here dwp. And if you used WMM2 for this, tis further proof that you need not an expensive editor to make good videos. (especially this quality...)

Solid editing, good song, good capture, and good story flow. I dig it.
nitpick: a few times the capture apreared just a bit overfiltered. But I'm a major nitpicker on that. a minor flaw realy.

thanks shishlik for the opinions!
good eye bakadeshi. i used too strong of smoothing and sharpening filters. it gives very defined areas of solid-ish color, but looks a bit unnatural. o well, you're the first one to notice it (or at least the first to notice it and say so) without me pointing it out first.

yea from my experience, some types of anime respond to that better than others. I probably won't filter Haibane renmei at all, or use very weak settings since the style of the art lends towards a more soft apearance, and sharpening it just makes it look unatural. (even worse than Esca) Anime like Love hina, Please teacher, Azumanga Daio, etc.. that uses more flat shaded anime style respond better to those types of filtering I found out. Interestingly on my NTHT vid for this same reason, I actually had a sharpened version and an unfiltered version that I overlayed ontop of each other in AVIsynth so it would not look too soft yet not too sharp either. (the stregth setting for Mftoon seems to be broken atm)

anyway, /end technical rambles

Good vid, and I personally think it deserves more love. :?

Well I had definitely noticed the filtering when I first saw this video, but I still think that it was used to a good extent. True that it's different from "natural" Escaflowne footage, but I found it refreshing. Kinda like a meeting an old friend who got a new hairstyle, you know? :P
