Well, this video was shown at AnimeNEXT 2004 (contest) and Otakon XI (overflow 4). It's a rather slow-paced piano video featuring shoujo-ai content. Please, if you are offended my lesbianism or shoujo-ai material, don't download this video.
Title: I Want You To Stay
Song: "My Invitation" by Sarah Slean (off of Blue Parade CD)
Anime: Maria-sama Ga Miteru (The Virgin Mary is Watching)
File Info: 45.8MB MPEG-1

Please enjoy. I don't think many will like it, but it was mainly done for myself so it doesn't matter much to me.

Here's a raw first impression; I've watched this only the one time.
Very good crossfade work, and with the long clip durations, captures the mood of the music nicely. One jarring exception was the first cut...about 15 seconds (?) into the video. That really needs to be a crossfade.
I didn't have a big problem with the lip flap, except when the scene goes too long - and "too long" is relative. At some point the viewer starts to wonder, "What the heck is she saying?" That's when it's too much lip flap. One or two scenes got me to that point (but I wouldn't suggest making them shorter).
Those long pans might be made smoother by using stills-plus-motion settings. PM me if you're interested in knowing how (it's easy).
Nice piece of work. I guess I'm not surprised it went into the overflow at Otakon. The slow, quiet stuff goes nowhere at conventions these days.

Before making this video, I used the "additive dissolve" effect for fades. I'm *so* glad that I figured out how to do rubber-banding and transparency correctly ^^;; That part is actually in the anime with all the cuts instead of fades. I may consider going back and fixing it when I remaster the video.TaranT wrote:Very good crossfade work, and with the long clip durations, captures the mood of the music nicely. It seems that everyone has something to say about the lip flap ^_^;; I do agree that it is a bit much at times, but I really didn't want the characters to be staring at each other angrily. It would've looked a little weird.TaranT wrote:I didn't have a big problem with the lip flap, except when the scene goes too long - and "too long" is relative. Wow, definately. I use Premiere 6 so any help you could give me would be great.TaranT wrote:Those long pans might be made smoother by using stills-plus-motion settings. PM me if you're interested in knowing how (it's easy).
Honestly, I'm not either ^_^;; I mainly just wanted to give a decent introduction to the show, and this little subplot is what drew me in most about the show. This is my second year entering a shoujo-ai themed video, and I'm definately doing one again next year ^_^;;;; But thank you very much!TaranT wrote:Nice piece of work. I decided to make a new topic about it:Fungie½ wrote:Wow, definately. I use Premiere 6 so any help you could give me would be great.TaranT wrote:Those long pans might be made smoother by using stills-plus-motion settings. PM me if you're interested in knowing how (it's easy).
