first AMV -Fullmetal Alchemist

Post by angieness » Sat Aug 07, 2004 6:10 pm

Hey there! I'm new to the forum but I've been watching AMVs for quite a while now and finally made a video for the anime Fullmetal Alchemist to the song "Seen it All" by Bjork featuring Thome Yorke.

The general opinions I've gotten were..

1.the quality, yeah it's downloaded footage but don't worry, it's a series that just got liscensed and I'm going to buy the DVDs when they come out, I get 30% off anime where I work so I buy like 3 or 4 DVDs a week and FMA is at the top of my list of things to buy. (the first DVD comes out in January I think?)

2.A Bjork fan complained because I trimmed the song down to 3 minutes. I know I don't have an attention span for a 5 minute video plus it was recommended in the guide to good videos. Was this a good move? From my experience in watching videos I get pretty bored if the video is 4+ minutes long even if it's a great video.

3.The same person complained that all the words didn't match what was going on but then again this person hasn't seen FMA. I guess the video in itself and the words to the song make a lot more sense if you've seen the series and considering the major spoilers in the video alienates a lot of people. I'll try to do better next video.

4.Some editing gets a little rapid

Again this is my first video, do you guys think I did a good job? Constructive criticism is welcome I know I didn't make a perfect or groundbreaking video but I had a lot of fun making it. What are some things I should consider in the future as a video creator? (aside from the downloaded footage  I don't intend on using it again) Did it bore you? On my next video I want to stay futher away from spoilers and consider not everyone that watches the video has seen the anime so they don't have to see it to make the video make sense.

Anyways my rambling, I'm nervous. I'll gladly critique a video in return for any critiques recieve, just give me a link :D

Thanks for the reply, it'll probably be around Monday until I get a chance to op your vid but I'll tell you right now that it as very good in my opinion, I usually HATE music like Bjork, but the video flowed so well with it I didn't mind.
