(and other OSS) with respect to AMV-making, so I was glad
you still had this vid available for download.
Technically I was quite impressed, because as far as I
can tell you did it all with free software which is an
achievement in itself, particularly considering it's your
first amv. I can tell you put a lot of work into it and I think
it looks great.
The anime you chose I know nothing about, but it looks
pretty. I'm not as keen about your choice of music, though,
and I really don't know what story you were trying to tell
(aside from showing us that you are one of the few who know
how to use Cinelerra really well :) As far as I could see
there's something about a couple in there but there's not
much to go on. It's all a bit mechanical, like techno dance
music.
I think that you're very skillful, and of course tastes vary,
but my suggestion to you would be to pick a nice song
with clearly discernable lyrics and be very literal about
matching the words with what you show(*). Given that
your technique is so good I think you could make some
really cool stuff, both visually and emotionally. Either way,
I hope you don't become discouraged and that you keep
making amvs.
(*) I don't particularly agree with the school of thought
which champions always having a literal lyric-visual match.
I think that suggesting the relationship between them is
a much better approach, but it's also harder. Following the
lyrics closely is nonetheless a good starting point, I think :)

I think that the best way to improve is to watch videosquandasim wrote:thanks for reply:)
i agree that the story and emotional side of my amv is quite poor.
next time i'll try to focus on this problem and improve it:)
that you find touching and try to understand why that
is. For what it's worth, I think that:
<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... =3224">The Fall</a>
and
<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... 404">Under a copper sky</a>
are great examples. This last one is actually Czech, so you
probably understand the lyrics (I don't, and yet I feel I don't
really need to, it just works perfectly IMHO).
Well, I hope you liked it :)quandasim wrote:p.s. i visited you web site before i created this amv:)
For what it's worth, my attempt at making something
heartfelt is:

but then again, tastes vary...
Best of luck! Cheers!
