Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
 • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
 • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
 • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
 • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Ghibli's All Around the World - Remix

Post by godix » Fri May 21, 2004 1:31 am

I've had this video in my profile for a few months now. When the video I was working on for Acen 2004 turned out to suck hardcore I dusted off the project files of this and redid some of the scenes, timing, and size/space relations then submitted it to Acen. It is fundamentally the same video, I doubt you'd even notice the difference unless you watched them back to back. However it does have some actual changes in it so I guess technically under the rules it's considered a new video. So here it is, a remixed and better quality version of Ghibli's All Around the World. This is the version that won Best Technical Achievement at Acen 2004.

Incidently, if an admin sees this and thinks I should have gone the deletion request route, I appologize. Feel free to remove the old version if you like.

ehehhe...well this video is really impressive to me. I want to learn how to do some of those cool things with technical editing like this one.
The only thing that bothered me was there seem to be slight timing issues with the dancing and lip synching, but that's a very small thing, and everything fit so well into the fun style of the video.
Kudos.

I agree with cirellio. I liked the video, it was fun to watch all those fancy photoshop effects ;)

Maybe the bars didn't have be all the time in the background

Thank you. Masking, alpha layers in photoshop, and having no idea going into it how many nights you'll waste on it. That's all you really need to know to do something like this.

I did try darkening the bars in spots so they wouldn't be so intrusive. But yeah, that's the problem with doing music sync the way I did it, it'd look stupid if I suddenly stop it while that part of the music continued so I kept going and going and going...
