(Shiny Beast) Fallopia - Kizumonogatari X Captain Beefheart AMV

!!SERIOUS AS A HEART ATTACK!!

Captain Beefheart is one of my alltime heroes (artistically more than personally) and making a vid for one of his songs has always been this huge grail for me. His lyrics can be very specific and oblique so it was tough to know which song would work organically for a vid, but when I finally did a much belated return to his incredible masterpiece album Doc at the Radar Station and finally really listened to Dirty Blue Gene, it suddenly all felt much more attainable. The lyrics, which mix vulgarity and transcendence (my favorite thing!), reminded me of Monogatari, which I've edited with in small lil side projects before but knew it was destined for something more definitive. Then thinking of the Kizumonogatari movies I got really really enthusiastic about the prospect of this video and grinded out the whole thing over the course of about 2 weeks.

This video gave me the opportunity to return to the more dense Rocks Off/D E S T R U C T style of editing, with a new gimmick of messing with "Screen" image compositing, which allows for the overlays to appear more natural (sometimes lol) and made the whole thing feel fresh instead of rehashing the same techniques I'd done previously.

It's weird, it's intense, it's loud, it's Beefheartogatari.

Watching it makes me excited and I hope some of that enthusiasm can translate to you as well.

FLASHING WARNING, VIOLENCE WARNING, ANY WARNING YOU CAN THINK OF REALLY
