Hello fellow AMV community,
for the new year and to escape the cold winter months, i just couldn't resist to get my hands on another beautiful piece of anime by Madhouse Studios, Black Lagoon. I particulary love the detailed scenes of the sea (the underwater part is magical) and took the dynamic of the naval scenes to the action. I tried to concentrate on the fighting for an effect, leaving the main atmosphere on the tidal happenings. So far, i haven't had that much fun cutting to an Anime and i really tried hard on some parts, so let me know if you have any thoughts. Anyways, enjoy a smooth ride on the high sea !

Happy (late) new year to all and enjoy!
Cheers, Karmelin

Pretty cool , not sure i like the contrast between the song and action but it was fairly interesting (i think you should be a little bit more with spamming some transitions like rotate tho)

Re: HiSEA | Black Lagoon AMV
I don't know how much you altered this footage but this one struck me as a far more colorful and visually vibrant Black Lagoon AMV than any I've watched in the past.
Not trying to throw shade at the animation quality here at all but most AMVs I've seen with this series felt gritty and grimy in ways that kind of turned me off. I'd be surprised to find out that you changed nothing at all here and something else is coloring my perception.
Nice work here. I love your music too.

Re: HiSEA | Black Lagoon AMV
Hi, i'm amazed about the quick responses - thanks for taking your time!
There sure is some contrast between the fighting and music, but with so much action going on i had to take some of the scenes in - maybe i focus on altering the music more for action parts in the future.
You're right with the rotations and transitions, but they're also a lot of work too - i would spend a whole week alone making the transitions in a 3 minute AMV and i still want to be able to get the clips out in a reasonable time (trust me, it's much time already
). But i definitely keep it in mind. Maybe it's time for a shorter, more "concentrated" clip once in a while.
Hi seasons! I don't know what it is, but i can safely assure you that zero color grading or any picture alteration has been done to the footage, also FPS and aspect ratio are the same. I used the blu-ray version and i could imagine some AMVS have been made with lower source quality. Only effects are blurs, zooms and rotations (and some digital "wave" effect used two or three times, the one producing the glitchy lines), and of course some layer effects, but the footage itself, i didn't dare to touch it, it probably wouldn't get any better than it is.
I knew from the moment i sighted the scenes that the main aesthetic is gonna be about the sea, especially scenes having that certain quality of calmness and clarity, there are a LOT of grimy scenes in the anime like you described and i probably filtered a lot of them out. Also i have to say that the animation quality somewhat varies in Black Lagoon, there are scenes which kinda look they have been rushed or the artist couldn't take as much time as on many other scenes - that's perfectly normal, but when sighting the scenes for multiple times it get's a little too obvious. As you mentioned, not trying to throw a shade at the quality, and i think some other scenes perfectly make up for this, after all it's human art.
