Re: Berserk AMV - Just Like You
As much as I dislike the animation of these Beserk movies, I think you did a fantastic job here with what you were given. You took the visually best parts of the movies (them being the landscapes, environments, and camera work) and put them front and center here. It's just a shame the characters feel so out of place.
The only things I can really point out as criticisms is that I probably would have suggested you use more fast paced action oriented shots around the 2:25 mark to better contrast the slow landscape shots of earlier, but I particularly didn't like how the action shots looked in the movies so I'm not sure if that would have even been a good idea. Some of the zoom outs/ins felt a little too fast and disorienting, but nothing too bad.
Overall, I enjoyed this quite a bit more than I thought I would. Great work.

Thank you for the constructive feedback! You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the animation style of the movies. The switch between 3d and 2d was often a very big aspect that many fans did not like about the movies so as you mentioned, I was trying my best to highlight the better instances of the animation, but that made it really difficult once I got to the faster parts of the song as the movies rely more on 3d in the action scenes so my options were quite limited. I am really glad you enjoyed it!ShadeTheNovice wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 4:26 amAs much as I dislike the animation of these Beserk movies, I think you did a fantastic job here with what you were given. Yeah, this is good! The song's a great fit and I do think you captured some of the best animation. Around 3 minutes the animation becomes pretty bad - very obviously CGI with pretty inhuman movement. But obviously you have to do *something* for the climax of the song, so not much else you could have done given your source material. Technically I don't really have any complaints, but emotionally it felt like the buildup was better than the climax, and that was a little bit of a letdown. Oh well.
Overall good job, especially the mood setting in the early parts.
