I Don't Belong Here-Evangelion AMV (AWA Pro 2018)
I found this song online, and I knew I had to apply it to Shinji. I still need to watch the show, but I binged the rebuild movies and spent way too much time on this. This was one of my hardest videos I've made so far, but I learned a lot from this, especially with the editor input from pro.

Audio/Visual: The visuals here were very good. Your source material is clean and crisp, and I thought your effects choice was fitting and not distracting. All the scenes selected felt right and not out of place. They each matched and correlated with the song well.
Synchronization: Interesting mix of zooms, overlays, and scene sync. I particularly liked what you did at 1:28 to 1:31 and 2:40 to 2:48. The sync in general stayed anchored to the pace of the song throughout the AMV. Good slow transitions at the start and great transition into more intense scenes at the end. The shift between the varying visual intensities was very seamless as well. It didn’t feel abrupt but naturally increased as the songs intensity increased.
Story/Theme: I watched this anime when I was young and it’s one of my favorite, but I don’t actually watch many AMVs of it, but I did think that this is a very good profile AMV of Shinji. You did a great job delving into his psyche and conveying his struggles of isolation, abandonment, and conflicting romantic feelings. Always felt Shinji was a crybaby, but I guess he was a 'creepy' crybaby.
Overall, a very well made AMV. Great job!

Thanks for the review! The zooms were a new thing for me, so I'm glad it worked out.vkamv wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 10:39 amvkamv wrote:Audio/Visual: The visuals here were very good. You're strangely not the first person to think it was funny.Mol wrote:Pretty cool mood. Also unintentionally funny a bit
This vid borders between "super, extra serious" and "lol who's this crying loser"

I am constantly weirded out by vastly different covers of songs I remember coming out.
I liked this video. This is a Shinji song, and it fits well with Shinji's character, but...
I didn't like this version of the song. I think the original by Radiohead would have fit much better, but that could be my bias, given that I am "of that era" so to speak.

You're doing so much here that's really impressive. External, internal, lyric, mood sync are all thoughtfully used. You didn't mess up the different aspect ratios of the different movies. This AMV looks great. I wonder what's holding me back from really loving this.
Any plans to upload this? I know it's on YouTube but there's a better chance I'll come back to it again in the future if I've actually got it on my computer.
