  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Identity Impasse

I came up with this idea while I was listening to music on my computer one night. I came across the song "Only a Memory" by Icon for hire and had the thought "This so fitting for the character Ken Ichijouji from Digimon.... I should totally make a video about this"...so I did, this is it... I actually quite proud of this video. It's pretty simple nothing too spectacular effects wise in it, but I like it. I would love to get some feedback on it as well so that I can improve upon my editing in the future so feel free to give it a watch and let me know what you think either by commenting here, or being awesome and giving me an opinion... or even commenting on my youtube which I don't usually post but seeing as the previews haven't been generating I'll go ahead and post a link to that as well so you could post comments there too. Or maybe you just want to be awesome and do all three... there's a thought. Also a shout out to Sephirothskr for taking a look at my WIP version of this who I totally was going to mention in my credits but then I forgot and didn't want to do another encode...because I"m lazy.
Anyway hope you guys enjoy and let me know what you think.

Pretty original in choice of character/show, just from what I remember on the second season of Digimon I recall Ken being somewhat of the bad guy. After watching I was reminded and even informed more on his character as a misguided kid. And he's related to Joe?! I forgot the details of the season.

With that, this did very well as a character profile and kudos to you for making one on such a character who comes off as evil but is actually very human. General execution was good, but some smaller things like the quality could be better. That contrast lighting alter through most of it didn't really improve it visually.

Well not Joe, that was his older brother Sam or Osamu depending on if you watch it dubbed or subbed. The lighting effect I added because I wanted it to look like a dream sequence, in other words I wanted to separate it from the opening and ending clips so I added to kind of make the clips glow a bit. I myself debated over whether or not I liked it, but I showed it to a few friends and they said they didn't even notice it so I decided to leave it in. To be honest I wanted more of I guess a fog in kind of an eclipse shape (not sure how else to describe it but basically like in tv shows when there is a flash back and its kind of got that foggy like border around the clips) however I couldn't figure out how to make the effect and ended up settling with the lighting. I shall have to see if I can't figure it out next time I suppose. Thanks for the feedback.

This really hit the spot for me, I love these kind of character profile videos when they're this well-done. I can tell that you put a lot of consideration into the clips you chose here. A lot of these kind of AMVs can tend to feel random and all over the place, but this was well-arranged and was somehow able to stick to the plot of the series in a really linear way without getting predictable or boring. I like how you set it up from the beginning. Putting the focus on Ken's relationship with his brother makes him a likable and sympathetic character, which is why I think (or at least hope) that viewers who have never watched this series could still enjoy this AMV.

I'm always surprised when I watch an AMV that has a song (or a certain kind of song) that I'd never want to listen to on my own, but in the context of the video, it's really, really enjoyable.

Always love to see really well-done Digimon AMVs, especially for this season, which people tend to criticize or overlook, for whatever reason. Sort of reminded me of this one, at least in terms of having a certain level of thoughtfulness conveyed through some tasteful editing and an obvious fondness for the series.

Thanks for watching, I'm really glad you liked it. Also Season 2 of Digimon is the best... It's one of the few seasons of Digimon that I re watch all the time.
