  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Evangelion - Grand Finale

Post by Posh Gamer » Sun Nov 02, 2014 10:56 pm

This is my first AMV, thank you for taking the time to watch. I never intended to make one but when I heard this song I couldn't resist. I hope you enjoy, feel free to leave feedback!

So first off since everything here needs a amv org catalog entry: don't forget to link to the video on your org profile as well. You can do this by going to your profile from the homepage, click on the video you want to link. On the video page in the light orangish Information box there is a little chain link Icon. click on that and copy and paste the stuff in the first box into your post. It should say "[vidid]######[/vidid]" except the #'s will be actual numbers. I checked your profile you have it up on the org however because you didn't include the org information no one knows if it is in the catalog or not and as a result you probably won't get much feedback.
Now on to what I thought. It wasn't bad for a first amv. I think I would suggest maybe working a bit more on timing because there wasn't too much that seemed to be timed to hit on a beat. A few things did however there were so few of them they seemed like they just happened to be put there and coincidentally hit on a beat. Some of the clips you used seemed a bit long as the video sat on a clip for awhile and it felt like something should happen but nothing did, for example at 3:32 all movement of the main focus of the clip stops (not including the back ground and foreground which at least for me isn't the focus of my attention) and nothing happens for about 4 seconds while there are 3 or 4 beats heard which makes it feel really long. Maybe make a cut there and shorten the length of time where there is no movement or try and speed up that section a bit. Otherwise not bad for a first amv hope to see more from you in the future.

Thanks for the reply, I posted too eagerly and immediately regretted it after seeing other posts with organized info, thanks for the heads up. For the timing I think it is due at least in part to framerate issues with the upload or how I rendered it because it is more stuttery on youtube. I might have to remake it after I buy the blu-ray editions. The part at 3:32 was sped up a lot actually lol but I see what you mean. Thanks for the feedback, will definitely keep it in mind.

Is this an AMV of the series or the films?
