I'm definitely going to take my time on the next one I make. Also, I rather not join MEPs because I don't really have time to make AMVs, so I just make them whenever I have time. Thanks for the suggestion though.pan_dbgt01 wrote:About the making shorter AMVs....
It is your choice, but I usually split my AMVs up into segments and usually take at least a month to complete them. It's more of a project then.
Short AMVs are good for something quick, to practice. Join MEPs on Youtube even.

Re: First Ever AMV
For your first AMV, I think it's a good effort ^-^. On top of everyone else just said, I think you should watch a lot more AMVs, good AMVs. Naruto is a very popular source, like someone said. There are probably plenty of very good Naruto AMVs on youtube, unfortunately, I don't know any. I only know this one, which I know was very popular back in the day:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=68138 (Sierra Lorna was just an amazing editor in general @.@;;)
Good luck with editing, and try to make some tasteful AMVs, rather than just pure-action-with-no direction AMVs, which I know uses the Big 3 such as Naruto quite often. There are already plenty of those I think. Try to stand out more from the crowd ;3.
Side note: (Wow, I haven't watched an episode of Naruto for like more than a decade, the animation and shading sure has gotten lazy ;D.)
Edit: Oh, I lied. I know two good Naruto AMVs: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=73628

Re: First Ever AMV
I'm trying my best to stray away from any popular anime, which is hard because all the popular anime are the ones that I like to watch. I was thinking about doing Sword Art Online next because I found a perfect song that goes with it, but Sword Art Online is over used with it's popularity. I guess I'll just have to watch more AMVs to see what's already out there. Thanks for the comment.Ardamaeus wrote:For your first AMV, I think it's a good effort ^-^. Re: First Ever AMV
For a first amv its not bad. Most of the negative things I had to say about it have already been said ie: more cuts less one long un edited fight scene. If you try cutting up the fight scene a bit more you could also then play around with the timing and trying to get some internal sync going on rather than it happening by luck. I did like the story you told with it. To be honest even if Naruto is an anime that a lot of people use, if you want to use it in your amv I say go for it. If your amv makes you happy then its awesome, this isn't to say you shouldn't want to improve, but if your happy with your amv that's what really should matter. In response to your last post (I'm too lazy to quote it) I was going to be doing a Sword Art Online amv as well (only reason I haven't yet is because the DVD's are way to freaking expensive) because I had an idea for it, didn't really care that it was popular source, if it made me happy great if other people liked it even better. Just keep practicing your technical skills and doing what makes you happy and you'll do just fine.

I'm glad that you liked the story. It would've been better if I knew what I wanted to do with the AMV; I had no story at first. I think I might re-edit this in the near future to where young Kakashi is having a premonition rather than a dream. Also, you use DVD's? I just download my episodes O.o But now that you've said that, I think I will go with the Sword Art Online idea that I had. Thanks for your comment (:animefreak00007 wrote:For a first amv its not bad. Re: First Ever AMV
Yeah, back when I first started in highschool I did that (as I had no job and was broke)... the quality was never the greatest though, and then after about a year I just stopped editing until about 2009-2010ish, when I decided if I was going to make amv's again I was going to do it "right" and I came over here made use of my account that I created and then never used, found this guide http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech31/ and followed that and my footage quality improved immensely. If you can find high quality footage to download and that works for you for perhaps money reasons then do what works for you. Also in recent years whenever I've tried to download things I have gotten a virus on my pc every time so for me DVD's are the better option. Also, you use DVD's? I just download my episodes O.o

I would have to disagree with you there, ^ I can't tell you how bad the quality always is when I use DVD's. Here's an example of what downloaded footage has the potential to look like. This shot is 1920x1080 AFTER converting from .MKV to Mp4. Only looks slightly fuzzy around edges because, it's blown up to your full screen, whether it's 1080 or not, no anime is going to be 100% hi rez. But this is about as good as downloaded footage gets.

Clearly the implication was "or Blu-rays if they're available", which are still going to look better and take re-compression better than even HD downloaded footage can.Sephirothskr wrote:I would have to disagree with you there, ^ I can't tell you how bad the quality always is when I use DVD's.
