Biography of the Red Angel [Akross Con 2013]
"As usual, here's something different from anything I've done before.
If blood, Guts, and metal make you queasy, caution: this is my very raw and very gory retelling of the retelling of Berserk."
I completed this video in October, aside from a few minor changes and the Akross logo I decided to slap on after the registration deadline. It's the first time I edit this sort of fast-paced action, and I'm very happy with the way it turned out.
Of course, it'll only appeal to a niche audience. The song alone, which isn't one of my favorites, will probably turn lots of people off. The gore might make others wince. The editing focuses on outlining a tragedy, not just on the motion and quick cuts that characterize most action videos, and I had the opportunity to make it more fast-paced in the few months since I finished it. But I left it the way it was. Trying out an editing style I wasn't comfortable with was more important to me than making the video accessible.

Re: Biography of the Red Angel [Akross Con 2013]
As I said before, it seemed quite too clean and controlled in a lot of parts. Despite that, I really REALLY like it because it achieved its purpose, which was, as you said before, outlining the tragedy in the animu.
I finally got a proper understanding of the story as well after several watches. Very well done.
One of my personal favorites among the contest's entries.

Yet another good amv pushed to the second page cuz no one comments. cooooool
Anyhoo, my original crit pretty much stands, I like it the more I watch it though, and the minor tweaks you did definitely helped. Best amv I've seen with this anime for sure, totally did it justice. Some people might not get into it because of the music but it's a good amv regardless.

Thanks, man! I still agree that I could've made it a bit more sloppy, but I did try to focus a bit more on what was going on in the scenes instead of making it fast-paced. Watch some more from the contest, this isn't one of the best onesMentalTsui wrote:As I said before, it seemed quite too clean and controlled in a lot of parts. Anyhooo, I still agree with your original crit. Looks like the story sinks in more and the music sinks in less with repeated watches--heck, it worked for me. Thank you very mucho!
Thanks! Hoping to see some more videos using the movies soonirriadin wrote:Best amv I've seen using the new Berserk movies. Great scene selection.

berserk
i think you did a good job retelling the story, although i wasn't feeling the song and it was hard for me to get into it. the editing is nice and simple and the scene selection was great. pretty cool video

Very impressive considering most fast pace AMVs tend to involve mostly combat throughout, whereas you actually managed to develop a story through the chaos. There's probably a reason for that though
Also nice to see metal being used even if it is a bit on the heavy side. Don't think i've seen one using that genre since i started reading these forums; not surprised though as it seems difficult to edit to or at least requires a unique style.
Anyway i'm off check out the anime now, reminds me a bit of claymore.
