The video is a bit older already, but I am slowly catching up on uploads xD It's with one of my favorite movies, Tekkonkinkreet.
I know that many people don't like the Anime from the start because of the animation, which is... well, different. When I saw it for the first time, I also thought it was ugly, but my opinion has changed about that now. It's just matching. I strongly recommend you to give this movie a shot, because it's is ingenious. It really is.

As for the video, it was something I made for myself for once in a long time. I enjoyed working on it a lot, and I picked a song by one of my favorite German bands. I added the lyrics because I think they emphasize the meaning and because, quite frankly, they're fucking beautiful.
Anyway, hope you like the video. Thanks for watching! ^^

PS: I don't know why it says down there the video is 8 minutes long. I assure you, it is only 3 minutes. lol

I checked this video out for the song. I love to watch amvs set to my mother language (other than Rammstein or E Nomine  ), as this ehances the video-atmosphere to me considering I can relate more to them and thus they feel a lot more emotional to me. That aside, I still think german is one of the most beautiful languages worldwide and not only because I can understand it.

And while not expecting anything, this amv was just great. It didn't only portray the lyrics really well by scene choice, but also had an impact on me editing-wise. The editing enhanced the emotional aspect and worked really well. I'll keep this video and watch it a few more times

I personally love the animation style by the way. It's just something else, regardless of the characters looking ugly.

The downsides are probably the technical aspects.
DO NOT F****** ENCODE YOUR VIDEO IN HD UNLESS YOUR FOOTAGE HAS WELL ENOUGH QUALITY TO NOT LOOK ALL BLURRY. This trend is really annoying as most videos in 720p I've seen so far looked like crap. This is one of them.
Why is the video letterboxed? You should have just used a natural frame size for the anime.

Please do not add hard subs on your amv. If you really wanted your video to include subtitles for the foreigners to understand, you should have encoded it as .mkv with a softsubstream or something similiar. To me they felt really distracting and I always had to stop myself from looking at them instead of the video. They are useless to me anyway, considering I understand the lyrics and I wish I could have just turned them off.

Your video seems also to be misinterpreted as 8 Minute Video as you mentioned yourself. This looks like an encoding error to me. I watched the file with KmPlayer and it also showed up as that long. Yet, it suddenly stopped when the actual video was over. A re-encode with slightly different settings may have fixed the problem, but I'm not sure where exactly you did something wrong.

Looking past the technical errors, this was a really enjoyable video.

Thanks a lot, I am really happy you enjoyed it and liked the editing! :awesome:

I agree on the upscaling of footage, and even though it is not an excuse, I can at least explain why that happened.
For starters, I am on a Mac, a laptop with only 1GB RAM, which only allows me to run Final Cut Express without having too many issues. FCE doesn't give me too many options to work to begin with. Trust me, I've tried all potential project settings when I started editing with it years ago. The best option is a fixed project setting with 720p and Apple Intermediate Codec. It does not mean that I encode my video that way, but everything else will look like shit (with interlacing, banding and horrible outlines) on the canvas. Thus the letterboxing.
Now, the biggest letdown of FCE is probably that it will not let me encode my videos in lossless codecs, such as Huffy or Lagarith. It just won't. Oh, how much I've already raged about this. So I have to compress it with x264 encoder directly when exporting. (Kionon spent ages with me trying to figure that one out. It was the best option.)
When I encoded this video nearly two years ago, I had a shitty internet connection and just wanted an upload for youtube (HD IS the best. Everything else comes out as a greasy mess), so I encoded it on a 1800 kb/s HD (obviously not the best option) and after that... my computer crashed and I lost the project file. Someone must hate me. Oh awesome, no more re-encodes.
That said, I am really sorry, but sadly there's nothing I can do about it in some cases. But THANK YOU, I agree with you, and I wished so so so much I could run Vegas on FC without having to install windows here. I honestly, seriously do.
