5 for 1 deal! Merry XMas :O!
So I made some videos this summer for Project Org Editor 2011. I've been waiting to release them until I finished my Round 5 video which I never finished until now. Because I never finished it, I was DQ'd from the contest just before the 6th and final round. Go me. Anyway, here are all my videos from this years Project Org Editor:
Round 1 - Home Sweet Home
Create an ad for AnimeMusicVideos.org
Round 2 - After Story
Create an after story for a story... any story.
Round 3 - 7-7-7
Pick a sin or virtue and make a video around that.
Round 4 - 2 Is Better Than One
Collaborate with another editor in the competition to make a video.
And without further adieu, the never before seen round 5 video:
Round 5 - I've Heard It's Flattering
Pick a VCA/JCA winner and make a video that mimics it
Hope you enjoy.

Oh my. You really didn't like the themes did you? XD Maybe I'll do better this year with the feedback I got.
Anyway, I loved all your entries, and the 5th one was no exception. Personally, I loved your Brave Story AMV the best, but I also really enjoyed your collaboration with Ileia.
And Merry Christmas! These were extremely entertaining to watch again. :3

-_- <- that's how I looked when you told me the deadline was the night before... like literally. My face turned into a two dashes and an underscore. so disappoint -_-Ileia wrote:![]()
I especially appreciated your noble sacrifice.
Honestly, no I didn't but for different reasons:CodeZTM wrote:Oh my. You really didn't like the themes did you?
Round 1 I was expecting to make an AMV not an ad/commercial. While the idea and the concept were fine, it really wasn't something I felt belonged in an AMV contest. Maybe and overall editing contest it would fit better.
Round 2 was just vague and difficult to even conceive. "Create an after story using source from a story... wait, what's the story im making an after story of? How do I make an after story using the same source that makes up the story?!" Confusing and didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Would've been better just to ask us to make a story driven video with a short list of elements (must have x number of characters and be a tragedy but with a happy ending).
Round 3 was perfect. Simple and to the point. More of what I was looking for.
Round 4: initially the idea was to more or less mimic a video where two editors "battled" eachother. While on paper that sounds cool, I don't think it really works in a competition setting. It's more of a collaborative effort to pull off the type of video you were looking for. The revised Round 4 still had it's problems. I think some people were screwed off the bat. I personally think I lucked out since I got to partner with Ileia, whom is already a good friend of mine and we've worked together before. There's also the issue of people being able to collaborate across timezones so that also screwed people. It was unfair and it seemed like the relied more on your ability to work with others rather then your skills as an editor.
Round 5: the only issue I had here was that I don't really consider it flattery if someone tries to mimic another persons video. Even more so if it's a video thats popular and has won awards. I don't remember if I mentioned it in the videos' notes but I had a hard time getting over that before I could even start editing. As an editor who has at least one VCA winning video, I was actually somewhat upset about the possibility of someone using my video. It's not that I don't want people using the same sources or parodying my videos, it's more along the lines of: in a competition setting, I want people to compete using their own ideas. Having the theme pick from an award winning video and also saying we have to use a bit of the original video's style at the same time really doesn't show a lot of creativity in my mind. Maybe there's creativity in the way an editor would mix their style with that of the original but part of the original concept is still there. I hope that made sense, lol.
Kinda went off topic but I thought it warranted an explanation in case people were wondering why I didn't like the themes. That said, my goal was to edit, not to win. So while I didn't like the themes, I sucked it up and did what I signed up to do. I edited... so mission accomplished i guess

This makes me sad xD Especially how Pwolf gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Honestly, I did love Ileia vids but yours were soooo cool too xD Yet, I'm kind of curious, what kind of video would you have done in the final round and how would you feel about the theme??

Not really sure honestly. Just after I failed to submit my round 5 video i realized I would only have like 1 day to edit before I was going on vacation (due to the round 4 extension). So if I had made it to the final round, I don't think the video would be any good. All that aside, I would probably make a drama video. I'm known for those so it makes sense.lloyd9988 wrote:what kind of video would you have done in the final round and how would you feel about the theme??
As far as the theme, it's too broad i think. Its also too difficult to really say for sure if it's been followed correctly. If you don't already know the editor and their style, your judging will be based on what their little blurb was about the video. Not to mention, my perspective about what an editor's style is will be different then the next person and/or even the editor themselves. I wouldn't trust anyone, even myself, to judge it correctly and fairly. Taking that out of the equation, you are basically just judging two random videos so the only thing to judge them on is how well it was put together. Soooooo, essentially, the theme didn't need to be there and should've just been "editing what ever you want round". More likely than not, the videos would've been the same either way

What's the k.i.s.s. model?CodeZTM wrote:I'll keep that in mind pwolf. I should have followed th k.i.s.s. model, but I wanted to go a little off th beaten path. but thank you for your explanations.

Kiss model is "keep it stupid simple". A lot of the issues with the contest revolved around the themes, so I think this might be where most of the changes come from. Oh and sorry for derailing your thread. I might send you a pm later to discuss this further.
