Farewell, Satoshi Kon [2nd Place Otakon 2011 Romance/Sent..]
This is my tribute to Satoshi Kon. I used as many of his works as I could get my hands on. I hope you enjoy it, as much as I enjoyed his films.

I voted for ya -- the mood and lyric synch were pretty great throughout. Nice job.

Re: Farewell, Satoshi Kon [Finalist, Otakon 2011]
Wow. So totally not what I was expecting! Usually, when I see an AMV with this song, it's all shiny and sparkly with cuteness and momements where you just want to go "DAW so cute". This one had flames of drama in it [while still keeping the feel of the song], which I thought was a unique take on the song and the anime/sync matched it very well.
There were so many ways to take this AMV, and the many different "arcs" of the AMV made it all the better, and the "keys" bringing it all back together.
A lovely tribute, and something I'll hang on to for a long time.
Nicely done!

Seriously, the highest complement I can receive is that my video was surprising and unique. The second highest is that someone will download and keep it.

x2. I wasn't too fond of the flashes but otherwise, pretty nice.CodeZTM wrote:Wow. So totally not what I was expecting! Usually, when I see an AMV with this song, it's all shiny and sparkly with cuteness and momements where you just want to go "DAW so cute".

I'll echo the comment that it was deffinitely original in the sense that you didn't use all that usual cute and cuddly stuff. Out of those animes I've seen only Paprika, which has its dark moments, but you were able to pull out its lighter sides. I'm assuming you did the same operation for the rest of the animes you used
I also liked how it never dragged on. It's easy to get caught up in fades but the action was really dynamic here. However, I felt some of the flashing was clumsy and didn't really hit the beats properly (though the clips with the camera man and modeling were nice!).
Overall, a nice tribute! 3/5

The flashes were a trade-off. Looking at my timeline, I can guarantee that the flashes hit spot on to the beat, however, there were two that feel like they didn't because of the dark background. I tried adding white flashes instead of black, but that just hurt the eyes of the people who watched it. My earlier cut had twice as many flashes and cuts (I toned it down on the advice of my beta's), so what you see is significantly reduced.

Three words: Out of context.Out of those animes I've seen only Paprika, which has its dark moments, but you were able to pull out its lighter sides. I'm assuming you did the same operation for the rest of the animes you used
