Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Ray of Light

Post by RP_41 » Sat Mar 19, 2011 6:29 pm

Hey guys. ^^
I have decided (after overcoming laziness) that it's time for you to see and maybe, well, criticise a little bit (but not to much though (-__-')) my latest (ignore the fact that it was created and first premiered more than a year ago) Anime Music Video.

The AMV itself is called Ray of Light (I know, I know, I screwed up by mistyping the name in the video *facepalm* ) and is created from two Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movies:
The song I used is called 'In the Fade' and is performed by Queens of the Stone Age (you should check it out. It's quite good. And I'm not talking only about this song; they have a very interesting and attracting musical style so I think you'll find a song or maybe more which you will definitely like). >.< Sorry; I went off topic.

The idea of creating this video was suggested or rather pushed to me by a friend. One day we were talking about random stuff, you know: beer, anime, women and so. During that chat he mentioned to me that there was some AMV contest held in my country's most biggest ANIME topic web site (the contest is called AZAR AMV and the website: Anime Zona). After mentioning this he said to me: I bet that all the contestants are quite good in creating AMV's... (or something like that). And of course I, honouring my dignity as an AMV creator (I'm quite pathetic in creating AMV's but still) replied that I would easily beat all of them... And I think that you already know what happened next. *facepalm* And if you don't then I'll give you a hint - this is the rusult. Quite something as in few days of work. ^^
P.S. Wanna know how did it went? Well, I failed.

.

Big time. I wasn't even in the top 5. *facepalm*

Anyway... Sorry again for getting off the topic. I'm not really good at this (I mean explaining things which needs to be explained) so just be my guest and please, enjoy the video. >>CLICK ME<<

P.P.S. When done, please rate and if possible, leave a comments of what was good and what was not so good or maybe horrible in the video. I'd be very grateful. ^^

Thank you.
...
Don't think... Just do.

That should be how you list your video entries when you make topics like this. There's a little chain icon on your video's page: click on that and copy the 'Vid ID' code. Then paste it in your topic and all this info should appear.

Also you don't have to list the links to your anime or the contest, its ok. xD Vid ID does all the work for ya. c=

I watched it though: overall, to be honest I found it all really random. Just... various scenes, and I didn't know what you were trying to get across exactly... ^^;; Also don't make a 20 second-long intro of a few clips with no music: it felt too long (I honestly thought there was going to be no audio to the AMV because it felt so long. xD) 10 seconds should normally be the max.
However I really liked your use of effects! Lots of nice blurs, crossfades and color alterations.

yea same here, didn't really get what the story behind it was, but w.e it may be, I still liked it.
The way you made use of the blurs, color correction, and over layered the clips was was done really well.
It's the first amv I've seen on this anime, that isn't just some really fast action based, but it has some slow moments in there, too.
Over all, good job man, keep it up. =]
