Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

My newest! Dance to Excite Us!

Post by pan_dbgt01 » Fri Jan 28, 2011 12:47 am

Video:
Creator: pan_dbgt01 (Meghan-chan)
Genre: Action, Dance, Fun
Song: Atomic
Artist: She
Animes: Angel Beats!, Macross Frontier, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Yogurting.

Please enjoy!

I really worked hard on this and I am getting pissed at the low ratings! I don't understand why my videos get low ratings when AMVs are supposed to be for fun! I think this is my best yet as far as synch goes. I think I really show the emotion of the song with the anime clips that I used.

I'm not a technical editor, I am just a fan who loves to make AMVs. I struggle when rendering and do my best to get the best quality I can. I get better with each video.

Well, when posted on this site, generally the reaction is to get critique as well as share your AMVs. And if the ratings are low, then it's the fact that the technical aspects of the video are lacking. The reason for this may be the fact that you yourself stated that you are not a technical editor. However, as long as you enjoy making AMVs, that should be enough and if you continue to get better, that's always a plus; you're not trying to impress anyone, it's a hobby, enjoy. And if you just want to share, Utube is always open for everyone.

I do post on YouTube, but I feel the ORG was were I began and want the ORG to be fun again! It's also easy to get banned on YouTube.

I don't think people should have to turn to YouTube. I rate videos based on effort and if I enjoyed it.

I really wish our star ratings could be out of 10, then I would have given you 9/10 stars (as it deserves much more than just 4/5)
I'm taking off 1 point for repeat/similar clips, but I loved the effects and I can tell you put a LOT of hard work into this. It turned out very well and I enjoyed watching it. Great job, try not to let the critics get you down. I've found that there's at least 1 nice person per every jerk on the org
The infamous Killer Tofu.

I wouldn't worry too much about the ratings if I were you, considering you've mentioned that you're editing for fun and so the opinions of others shouldn't really matter too much. As long as you enjoy editing then that's fine. Anyway I get one stars myself sometimes too. ;)

About your AMV, I thought it was pretty good. You've got the basic sync and flow down which is pretty nice. Though I will say you should maybe work a bit more on your pacing and scene selection. I felt some parts were too slow when compared to the song and I would advise working with repeating scenes unless you really can't find a better alternative.

Better quality always makes it nicer for the viewer, I don't know about others but personally I enjoy a video MUCH more if it was encoded properly. The org has an excellent guide to this kind of stuff. If you're still confused or having problems you could try posting in the Video Help forum or you can give me a PM as I don't mind helping you out with rendering and encoding. ^^

The video turned out badly, that's how to beat the track masterfully -

Thanks to everyone who watched this! I am thinking about entering my first CON this year and I want critique! lol I spend last year learning Vegas and I think I could do it this year for sure. I definately could add more to this AMV. I like the Angel Beats and the Macross, but I went a little much on the Yogurting.
