Yumeria: Inception Trailer

Post by ranmaman » Sun Jul 18, 2010 1:19 am

...Again - i haven't exactly been "original" with any videos lately...

but after watching the Trailer 3 to this movie for the first time ....right after seeing the movie.

i searched to see waht had been done - some VERY good renditions of the trailer to be sure... but i tried my hand at one i didn't find - which like a few others done - actaully has to do with dreams.

i saw it mentioned before that once re-sizing a video to 848x480 ...to crop out the black bars..... now that i don't know how to do - but the AR is only different from the video to the Actual Trailer footage with the text and logo's.

i had real fun with this one and i'm hoping this one is recieved fairly well as it is my first attempt at a Trailer ever....

anyways i hope you enjoy it :)

In terms of cuts, it was okay, but really I don't think this anime fits (Granted, I haven't seen the anime). The scene selection doesn't make much sense.
The trailer audio is suspenseful and serious. You frequently chose clips that were the opposite of that.
The entire trailer seemed dark and mysterious. The entire concept and all clips from Yumeria were bright, colorful, and often had an air of comedy about them.

I know that the anime Yumeria has something to do with dreams (or at least, I was pretty sure it did) but just because it shares similarities to a movie, doesn't make it a good match. Better luck next time?

I agree with this pretty much. Also, there were a few technical things that bugged me, like the lip sync (which was good, but was a little iffy at some spots, such as :41.) And I only watched the preview, but the AR looked funny because of the letter-boxing and thin black lines on the side that could be trimmed. But I'm not the best person to offer crit on such things :P
Anyhow, yeah, didn't really like this for the reasons SQ mentioned.

Basically the editing was not bad but the mood was wrong. I've never seen this anime before so I don't really know what it's about but I think if you had used an anime with a darker feeling it would be a lot better.

Considering how this is your first shot at a trailer, it was not bad  few more and you'll get there :)

Just add a crop line to your avisynth script:

Crop(4,4,-4,-4)

You'll have to change the numbers around depending on how big the borders are.

well thanks for at least some help :P - but being most people have mentioned that they haven't actaully watched the series - prob won't get why a few scenes are where they are (such as around 1:29-1:32)

ok i agree with it not being as "dark and mysterious" as mentioned but i thought i twas a great fit - but being everyone thats commented hasn't seen the anime (or neglected to metnion so) anyways this is my first attempt at a trailer being its the only one that has ever sparked an idea to me - so i guess it will probably be a while before i make another one XD
