Spaced Out -- an FLCL vid

Been chipping away at this little by little since the summer ("November 2009" is a little misleading), never really having more than an hour or two at a time to devote to it. Ever since I discovered AMVs and began planning them out in my head, this is the video that I wanted to make. It's the first one I started work on, the second one I've finished, and now that it's done I can see what worked and (unfortunately) what didn't quite so much.

I'm sure it's an improvement over my previous effort, which I announced on this board in a thread back in September, and which sink like a stone off the front page here with zero replies. Hoping that it doesn't happen a second time. Any words of encouragement or reasonable critiques/suggestions appreciated.

I've only seen one episode of FLCL, but I at least know that its story revolves around a bunch of crazy and random alien robots or something like that. But for the most part, you AMV makes FLCL look almost normal. And since the lyrics of the song mention "going on a rocket ride" and being a "spaced out kid", I feel that you should have taken advantage of some of the more insane moments that I know FLCL has.

In terms of lip sync, I think that you overdid it a bit. And in terms of editing, I feel that this AMV needed a faster pace and more beat sync. But even after saying all that, I feel that the idea behind it was good. I just don't know why you decided to exclude most of the robot and comical scenes in the series. I personally feel that they would have fitted well with the "fun/ silly" song that you chose.

I guess I just wanted to focus more on the characters, and I wasn't sure if I was ready to tackle the crazier scenes in a way that would do them justice. And I figured that if I did, I'd run the risk of making the same FLCL video as everyone else. Not that that would be a bad thing in itself or anything.

Thanks for the comments!

I enjoyed it. The concept and execution was there. some parts could have used some work but overall I liked it.

Ugh, I really have no idea how I managed to botch that, especially after having looked at it for so long, feeling like there was something wrong with my video but never managing to put my finger on it, and then going ahead an uploading it anyway. I have to laugh to keep from crying.

I've put in a request to have the video deleted. I'm assuming (?) that this will simply remove the "local" file that's hosted on the site here but leave the video entry up as is. EDIT: I was able to fix the problem and finally have the revised version successfully posted.

Thanks for watching and calling this to my attention. I did get a quick beta view earlier and this was mentioned to me but I'm afraid I just didn't understand what my viewer was trying to tell me. Not until now, anyway.
