Right, very good to know. I have just re-compressed as an MP4 video, 352 x 288, CoreAAC Audio Decoder. Would this be the safest and most acceptable way to go?Scintilla wrote: And as far as the codec goes, you're right (though I'm sure XviD is still better). The problem is the container format you chose; if you'd taken the same DivX video stream and put it in an AVI file instead of a .DIVX file, nobody would have complained.
With the possible exception of Minion, who wants nothing less than x264 in MP4, but I think he's currently banned, so.

- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Thank you for everyone's advice on this. I have just uploaded the file as an MP4 version
The larger DVD quality one will be up for a while longer if anyone digs the web safe version enough to want to see a bit more detail.

Wait... 352 x 288??? WTH... and CoreAAC Audio Decoder just decodes AAC Audio, which is the audio codec for Mpeg-4 Files... Dude, make it 640x480 at least!!!Gundam_Muse wrote:Right, very good to know. Here you go!
I re-encoded the 275 mb mpg to a 75 MB H264 MP3 MKV with vdubmod...
http://senduit.com/02b177
I cropped and resized it, and your so called "DVD" Quality isn't that great...
The link expires in 1 week...

I am a little confused. Folks had been saying MP4 was the way I should go, since size seemed to be an issue. I just used the default settings on my file converting program for MP4.Naotaku wrote:Here you go!

I hadn't even considered Matroska since I know a number of Mac user friends who cannot play them.
As for the DVD quality file, that is actually a smaller file size version of the original (so technically that wasn't the actual DVD file I guess), but quality might always be an issue, as those PS2 animations, while very pretty, were a little jerky in the pans and zooms originally...
And yeah, that link expires soon, but it has been up for a couple of months.
As most of you can tell, I am not a technical guy. I just wanted to find a creative outlet and always enjoyed editing back in college. I do truly appreciate the technical advice, as that is one of my weak spots.
For those of you who have seen the video, what do you think about the video itself?
Edit: In my haste, I forgot to thank you for providing that MKV file. That was very kind of you and I will most probably use this one in the near future.

I'm going off of the mp4 locally downloaded.
Video Quality Sucked. Big Time. Something went wrong in compression. Bad wrong. X_X
I think this should be acutually classified as more of a movie than an AMV. But, it wasn't too bad. I mean, originally speaking, it's highly original and very well edited. It reminds me slightly of Dues Ex Machina, an amv uploaded a while back that did something remotely similar, nad it was highly praised.
So. Your score is going to be a solid 3/5, mostly due to poor video quality.
Had the quality been sharp, I would have given it a solid 4.25/5.

Thank you very much for that review! Obviously I have some tinkering around to do with the compression and distribution side, and I am very greatful for all the advice you and others have given in this regard. With me, technical issues always involve a lot of trial and error, and I appreciate everyone's patient advice.CodeChrono wrote:I'm going off of the mp4 locally downloaded.

I am glad to see the video struck you as original, as that was one of my goals. I really wanted to do something different and more in tune with my own nature. I look forward to doing some more videos in the future, including sequals to this one, as well as some things in the more traditional style.
