FFX Vid - Blitzball Devotion
I wanted to make a video devoted to Blitzball, because I swear I'm more hooked on it then any other part of FFX. LOL I was sharing the game with my sister and complained when we got to the part where you couldn't go back and play Blitzball at the save spheres.
I wanted to avoid subtitles, which made it harder since so many of the scenes that play for Blitzball do have subtitles. But all and all, I'm pretty happy with it. The song is off an old mixed techno album I bought years ago. I wanted something upbeat, but not too wordy. It's an edited version of the song since it's a little repetitive when listening to it for 5 minutes or so.
This is the first video I uploaded, and - yes - it was made in WMM. Though I guess you could say I have been making AMVs and Fanvids for about 3 years now, I still consider myself pretty much a newbie at them. All comments are appreciated.

Why didn't you just turn them off?scuzzimei wrote:I wanted to avoid subtitles, which made it harder since so many of the scenes that play for Blitzball do have subtitles.

Well, I will say that I was pleasently surprised.
For one, you had a local upload which few newcomers to the site fail to do. Kudo's to you on that!
The song actually fit the scenes pretty well, and there was some resemblence of sync in there. I think some of the transitions were waaaay to cheesy (I think I saw a dither dissolve and a shatter and a bar dither dissolve). WMM's only good transition (IMO) is its fade. For a blitzball video, you did pretty nicely.
The video quality could have used some work. The CG cutscenes looked pretty good, but the in-game shots really need some work. I think we have a guide in the guides section about getting video game footage, and getting it clearly. NIce use of multi-coloring effect in WMM when the orb exploded. A nice, elegant touch that wasn't overdone.
For a first AMV uploaded here, I was pleasently surpised with the quality of work. I see a bright new editor emerging. Work on quality, get sync a little tighter, and you'll have it in no time. (And for God's sake, no more cheesy transitions!)
Meh. 3.00/5.00 (Average)

...head-desk moment?

Though I seem to recall way back when we first got the game turning them off, and some subtitles still playing. Can't recall which ones, though.
Oops...okay. Though I kind-of like some of the cheesy transitions. LOL Thank-you for checking it out.
