Shadow says: knowing premiere will not produce better videos...it's what's up here (points at spot above shoulders) that matters old chap...I've seen some of the greatest vids in my day and they were made with wmm....it's all in the mind...do it the mcgeiver way...

Congrats, Bebop. Now if you get bored, you can explain how to do use Premier for me, right? ^_~

But really, I rather like the Macguiver way - doing what you can with what you got. Just the thought of what that man could do with a paperclip... :?
It boggles the mind, I tell you.

On the other hand, sometimes knowing too much about Premiere leads to over-editing. Which isn't bad, until you realize it's turning from a hobby into a vampiric time-warphole.

Nevertheless, congrats, looking for quality material & possible use of creative editing techniques. Granted, I still prefer videos that lure you in with more than just effects...

Same here. If anyone really figures out how to REALLY use that program pls let me know, that and if there really is a SIMPLE way to convert DVD to MPEG4 with ONE program. Premiere, the conversion nightmares Im having and trying to get my website up, I think Im going to have to change my major.

i have one or two suggestions. dl a users guide and turn your video footage to huffy files there a lot easier to mess with then avi and mpeg. they like to freeze a lot. i know it happens. i also work with vegas video now. i just realized i had it on my computer. its very similar to premiere but easier but im going to be switching back and forth using both programs. i dont use video factory which is the smaller version cause its starting to crap out on me. and apparently you can do character compositions which is real nice cause they allow alpha channle types and other channle types like in premiere which should be easier to work with. if a certain effect i need is in premiere ill just encode what ever i have of my project done into huffy and go from there and switch back and forth. i call them hybrid amvs. using one or more different programs to create an amv. i learned premiere the hard way.

The Premiere Killer...

Magix Music Maker [they have a video version too]

j/k

What can be done in one editor can usually be done in others. It just depends on how well you KNOW the program...

Want an effect that has 16 screens with flashing bars that go up/down, left/right, change colors, lensflares that DON'T block the view, color changing flares, color changing "sheets", b/w borders, static / fuzz filters, lightning, strobing, scene flips, limited motion, stretching/warping, [anything but SHATTERING your image /me cries] I think I could do it ^_^

Now that I know how to do the virtual clip technique [which I'm certain nobody knows/cares about or ever will since those people are After Effects Gawds...] I think I've pretty much "Mastered" Premiere's visual powers...

Now my MAIN problem is that I'm too excessively fun/happy in terms of editing a video's "atmosphere". I NEVAR do sad/gruesome vids. [just not me...] I need to jump genres here and there so I'm doing the "extremes"...

Dance [I don't care what anyone says, they are the hardest and trickest genre of amv statistics-wise. Go check the top 10% dance vids and find out. Nobody does them!]

Drama [one of the BIGGEST genre of vids here on the org... Polar opposite of dance]

I even tried BLENDING the two! [though if it worked or not, you're going to have to tell me ^_^]

Gah! What was I supposed to say again?! [doh!]
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
