Current AMV 'Obsession'

Post by CrackTheSky » Fri Jul 13, 2007 12:30 pm

I go through cycles when I watch AMVs. Usually it's by genre; for a few days I'll be really into action videos, the next I'll be into drama, etc. During each period there's usually one or two videos that I end up watching every time I get on my computer - the videos that I'm obsessed with. It's either because they stand out above the rest of the genre, or because they're just really solid all-around, or they have some element within them that just makes these videos really fun to watch. And then usually, a few days later, I'll have completely forgotten about these videos in favor of something new.

So I was wondering - do any of you go through this same kind of obsession cycle? Where you have one or two videos that you can't get enough of, no matter how many times you watch them? Maybe they're even videos that, ever since you downloaded them months ago, can't stop watching to this day. If so, post them with a short description of why; I'd really like to see some hidden gems pop up.

For me, the past few days I've been really into chambeyc's Confusing Love, because the effects are really cool, there's a solid story, and the editing from start to finish is just really tight, and fun to watch.

I also can't get enough of Pwolf's This Time, mainly because it's emotionally charged and manages to merge a unique concept with lots of action, and again the editing just works really well.

(Thanks to Reigna for introducing me to both :uhoh:)

No, I don't have those cycles.

If someone uses an anime I like, they can make it anything, drama, comedy, action, anything and I'll like it.

I go through cycles like that, although nothing other than the more recent "Dunkelblau" has had that effect on me. I tend to go through cycles like, watching AMV's. Some weeks Ill comment on just about every new video thats out...some weeks I just go without downloading videos at all. Of course I always enjoy watching them, I just don't think this is a fantastic year for videos thats all. The style of editing people are up to now isn't really my tastes.
And yes, I know, "everyone has their own style" but this year seems to be more of the soft, mushy, cute 'n' cuddly videos cause if someone comes out with a badass action video it just gets destroyed by all the other creators and people who just read too much into videos....now if we could get into the editing style from a couple years ago..............
So thats why Im so on and off in my video selection, and going through cycles like I am...at least I know the cause of it.

Nah, I don't have such cycles based on some genre. Although I am sometimes addicted to certain AMVs. More likely the newest ones I've downloaded. Right now I'd say I'm addicted to.. Whisper In the Dark?

I watch my own videos the most. Seriously. Why would I have made them otherwise?

I do have AMV obsessions and videos I periodically watch over and over. Having no PC at the moment though, I naturally don't have any now...
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I do when I go to cons and see amv contests...I'll usually download and watch the vids that I liked from the contest a lot after.
