AMVs that made you discover a new song/band

Post by CrazyLee » Sat Jun 23, 2007 5:18 pm

As odd as it sounds, there have been AMVs that have gotten me addicted to a song that I had never heard before... and in some cases got me addicted to a band I had never heard before.

So, if there was an AMV out there that got you interested in a song or band, please list it here!

Onegai - Fade
Now, I kinda liked Fuel before this, because of Hemmorage, but after seeing this video (and this was the FIRST AMV I ever downloaded, after seeing it at a con or anime group or something), I fell in love with the song Shimmer, and it is still my favorite Fuel song. (Also one of my favorite AMVs as well)

Pwolf - Du Hast 2.0
Probably the second/third/fourth AMV I ever downloaded. Before this video I had never even heard of Rammstein. After I saw this video, I became addicted to Rammstein and went out and downloaded their music and bought their CDs. Feuer Frei! BANG BANG! (another fav AMV)

Genki - Angel of Death
Had never heard of Nightwish before this AMV. After seeing this not too long ago, I now have two Nightwish cds, and I'm addicted to this song! (Love this AMV as well)

Nappy - The Chibi Things That Kill
Ok ok, so I've been a fan of Bush before I even saw this. But this got me to actually go out and buy some of their music. (Another cute AMV)

Ashyukun - Bouncing through the years
I became addicted to that song thanks to this AMV. Also, Ashyu, I've seen several of your AMVs and you're awesome! This one is my favorite, but I also loved the Afroken one as well.

Tyler_yj - Sweet Revenge
I've been a fan of Incubus for a while, but this video got me into this song from way back when they sounded different. I love this song now.

Kevin Caldwell - Believe
Ah yes, this famous AMV. Discovered this song thanks to this video.

Shonen Libido!
Thanks a lot, now you have that song stuck in my head (and on my hard drive as well! >.<) XD AND IT'S TRUE! Everyone else has had more sex than me!

There is an AMV that is not on this site (it should be) that got me into MOVE's song Dogfight, the intro to Initial D Stage 4.

the Hyperactive AMV of Miscellanious Brain Damage Suite
Let's see....
Captain Jack - My Generation
Rage Against the Machine - Imperial March
Storm - Oppi Fjellet

AMV Hell:
God, there's a bunch of songs I've become addicted to through AMV Hell. It's going to be quite a list.

AMV Hell CE
Buckwheat Boys - Peanut Butter Jelly Time
Dynamite Hack - Boys in the Hood
Mindless Self Indulgence - Backmask
The ECCNirvana - All Your Base
Iced Earth - The Coming Curse
Psychostick - Beer! <-- I fucking love this song!

AMV Hell 3:
Bad Religion - I Love My Computer <-- love this song
KOMPRESSOR - BRUSH YOUR TEETH
Mindless Self Indulgence - all their music
Scooter - How Much is the Fish?
south park - Fingerbang XD (gotta see that episode)
Stan Bush - The Touch (Let's roll out!)
Bernard Herrmann - Twisted Nerve
Feeder - Seven Days In The Sun
Frou Frou - Must Be Dreaming <-- <3
Josh Tobin - Playa Haters
Coal Chamber feat. Ozzy - Shock the Monkey <-- <3
Prozzak - Sucks To Be You
Raffi - Banana Phone
Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized <-- also thanks to Guitar Hero II
Metallica - The Memory Remains <-- ok so I've heard of that before, but I re-remembered it thanks to the vid
Moulin Rouge - Elephant Love Medley
Stephen Lynch - Superhero (the CD!)

Also, videos have gotten me interested in anime series as well. Thanks to AMV Hell 3, I've started watching Mahou Sensei Negima. But that can be discussed in another topic.

Thank you AMV creators! Thank you for helping me find kick ass music! I LOVE YOU ALL (in a non homosexual, platonic way).

No, wait, the Onegai video wasn't the first AMV I downloaded... but it was one of the first ones... maybe the third/fourth one... the previous ones were all DBZ crap and not worth mentioning ever again.

AMVs have introduced me to so much music it's not even funny.

Koop, of course, got me into Frou Frou and, by extension, Imogen Heap. Through Time, Through Space and Damaged Rei-Mix (both also by Koopiskeva) got me interested in the whole electronica/techno genre.

Waking Hour (Koopiskeva) and Paleness (Kaxi) made me fall in love with Vienna Teng. Where Do We Go (Beowulf) introduced me to the other side of Gorillaz.

Beo's Hail to the Thief as well as Kamoc's Is That You caused me to completely rediscover the genius of Radiohead.

Trythil's Always and Marc Hairston's Nemo showed me the beauty of Sarah Brightman's voice.

Requiett's Black Holes and Revelations made me realize that Absolution is NOT the only good Muse CD.

Dreamsofacobra's Asuka's Wonderland caused me to rush out and buy The American by Angie Aparo.

Fluxmeister and DarkXPower introduced me to MSI.

Thanks to feanor's Metropolis - Center of the Sun, I now own Conjure One's self-titled CD.

Kusoyaro's Bachelorette made me into a Bjork fan.

The list goes on.

I have yet to buy/steal an entire CD because of AMVs but there are quite a few that I ripped the audio out of the AMV. The poor audio quality isn't all the noticable to me. I'm old, I'm lucky I can hear anything at all.

Ditto. But let's see if I can't name some notable ones, at least:

SacredArrow18's Stuck On The Battlefield - while I'd heard Vanilla Ninja before because of Ileia's videos, this song in particular got rotated quite a bit after I saw it.

Videos by Kurayami-san, Kristyrat, and DaCoolGohan all exposed me to Flesh Field.

rei.andrea's Rozen Malina is the first place I'd heard Lacrimosa.

Warheart's Phoenix Rising introduced me to Machinae Supremacy.

There are lots of others, but I think this is enough for right now.
