how far can we go?

Post by Minion » Thu Apr 13, 2006 11:19 am

how bloody can an amv go and still be ok for the org? i know dismemberment is a no-no, but i assume that could be bended by changing to context. like dismemberment on a horror = o noes!
dismemberment on a comedy = w00tage

or

elfen lied to manson = no
elfen lied to polka music = sure bob

that seem about right, or is dismemberment still dismemberment if your laughing?

Um, the context doesn't matter. If it's too violent, then it's a no-no. If it's comedic dismemberment of some sort which by itself is not realistic, then OK. But that depends on the source and not the AMV.

Elfen Lied to polka is still Elfen Lied. And Elfen Lied-level violence is not allowed on local server.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

hmmmn... what comes to my mind when reading this thread is the several comedic scenes where people used Asuka's eva is being disembowled by the white bird evas in End of Evangelion...

O.o

but I guess disembowlment of a "mecha" (note the quotes) is different from slicing up humans.... or beings that appear to be human...

does the exploding horse in the Escaflowne movie fall under this "okay" category too? just because its not "human" or atleast human-like....

note: I've never seen the exploding horse used in an AMV, but I've always been quite curious to know if the rule still pertains to "non-human" or "non-human-like" beings... (mostly braught up in question to Asuka's Eva as I've seen it used in several AMVs, mostly comedic)

I've seen people get shot right open decapped cut open and what now hell even dbz has holes in people... people get cut in half and what not...

either way the line between gore and violance would be that if the rule would be enforced allot then basicly you can take off 75% of all video's cause someone will get punched in a video or shot/sliced up either way =\

and if were gonna talk gore would that mean i can mutilate chars cut them up and what not aslong as i dont show the actual gore? if thats so then where is the fun...

hell even most comedy shows have gore these days for example excel saga how many times dos that chick cough up blood and how many times do excel get shot up?

=\ i dont realy have a closing word other then the line between gore and none gore and what can or cant will for the most part belong to the creator himself if some person things that if we cant have gore at all he/she should only make sugar sweet romance video's then be my guest for me i'll strech that rule as far as i can till there will be traumatized childern knocking on my door aka the FIU incident =\

I think people should be able to post what ever the $%$@ they want. They should just put a little warning in the video description. I hate limits and censors.

I was wondering if the OAV version of Rurouni Kenshin that everybdoy seems to use is ok. They have people being stabed threw the throat and the head.

Now that there are so many free file hosting sites, you can always use an indirect link. The ban against excessive violence is only for video uploaded to the local server.

I can see the ban against hentai on the local server, being porn and all, but I don't really think it's necessary for violence. Maybe if it's live-action violence mixed in with the anime, then it might get so explicit it should be banned. But I haven't seen any animated bloodbaths that are so realistic and explicit I'd call them 'excessive'.

Yep, I was responsible for the one that was in AMV Hell 0. Especially since the song was The Dave Clark Five's "Bits And Pieces". I'd wonder how it would be if that was one isolated scene in a complete video rather than simply the entire thing, mainly because I do have plans of expanding it into a full video, and that wouldn't be relying on that scene except as a leftover sight gag.
