Creative Titles, why none?
Something I noticed for a while now is that creators here put absolutely no thought into the titles of their vids.
I admit I am guitly of this, but almost every single video I see is simply the title of the song. It seems to really bother me as of late. I'm just wondeing if it bothers other members as much as me?

yeah it's true...many people are lazy
so they don't bother putting interesting titles...but then again some people use songs that have titles that match perfectly! i guess, you really can't blame those people....
but most of the award winning ones have good titles...ones that don't follow the song title that is...

Well, your hasty generalization bothers me.Clip wrote:Something I noticed for a while now is that creators here put absolutely no thought into the titles of their vids.

Just when I come here I take a look at the new vids and I haven't seen a creative title in weeks.
The only ones I find are worse than the name of the song is the ones that take the name of the song and add a characters name to it. For example, a vid with Inuyasha and 'Bring me to life' becomes 'Bring inuyasha to life'. I can't be the only one who thinks these sound terrible.

I generally play around with the song/anime title when naming my AMVs.
Magical Destiny
Song - White Destiny
Anime - the international title for Ojamajo Doremi is Magical Doremi
Atelier Sakura: Eternal Cards
The song I used was the OP to the game Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana.
A Portrait in Scarlet
Song - Scarlet
Anime - Le Portrait de Petit Cossette
Magical Destiny

Why is it always attributed to laziness? Did you ever think maybe some people have a creative block when it comes to thinking up pretty titles that have absolutely nothing to do with the content of the video? I could sling some aesthetic words together and slap them at the top of a vid description, but I'm still going to refer to the vid by the contextual name I gave it when I was working on it. If the entire point, theme, and message of the video is the song, then I'm going to refer to it by the song. I'll take the phrase that best summarizes the video. That's only as lazy as using someone else's story to make your video in the first place.
Luckily, the best books and movies in the world have the most redundant and obvious titles - either the name of the main character, or a two word phrase that best summarizes the subject being portrayed, or both. That's why books are sorted by author rather than title - the titles are so common they can't be copywritten. I don't know why that's considered laziness in the amv fandom. Who honestly searches for vids to watch by browsing titles? They look at anime, song, and maybe creator. Titles are only useful if the content of the video differs from the song and anime used, some creative spin that requires a unique title to tell what the video is about. If the video is all about the song, by all means, name it after the song. Anything else is false advertising.
