Its good to look back and laugh....
So out of boredom and to see whether or not Nago is working again, I decided to start downloading some of my old music videos from a year ago. I compare them to other videos I have made and videos that others have made and for some reason...just started laughing. I remember doing things like downloading music and taking scenes directly out of other people music videos and once getting caught for it. I remember when I got so offended when someone left me a bad review on what I thought was the best AMV ever. Most of all, I realized how much I sucked back then.
Its amazing to see how you make videos now compared to how you used to make music videos. Its good to use things like Adobe, DVD rippers, ripping my own CDs, and taking more than just 5 days to make a music video. In fact only one of my videos from a year ago I still like.
Has anyone else had this kind of nostalgia looking back compared to how they do now? This is kind of a pointless topic, but I thought it would be good to share.

I submitted my only vid way back in 2003. About a month after I uploaded it, I realised how much it sucked. Since then, I've been too ashamed to submit any more. I've made others, but just to improve so the next one I submit (hopefully in the next few weeks) won't be so horrid.
Anyway, to get back on topic, today I checked my star average out of boredom and curiosity. I'd never checked it before, and expected around 1.5 or so. When I looked, it was a 3.58. That video is utter crap, people! Why the hell did you give it such high ratings?!?

ya, i just recently put a vid that is 3 years old back on the org, and when i watch it i get bored, and fast. But for some reason it has a 3.44 star rating. But i think that when you compare your own work you tend to be more critical.
But when i go back and watch my 6 year old DBZ vids made with WMM(that will never be seen outside of my pc, due to their supreme suckage), i laugh, i laugh hard.... they are so god awful.

Our first video was never uploaded and I lost my only copy when my AMV drive burned out (major pain) but it was no great loss. It was pretty damn awful, largely because we used fansubs and made no effort to clean it up. 70% of it was done in a single day (12 hours of practically continuous work, mind you) and I watched a quarter of the anime we used (Vandread) for the first time on the same day we finished it. However, our second AMV was a remake of our first and, although it isn't nearly as good as our recent stuff, I don't feel ashamed of it or anything else that we've done. In case you're interested, it's here and I think you'll agree we have no reason to be embarassed about it. (Strangely, our former third member still insists our crappy original version was better- probably because it's the only AMV he ever worked on.) Even the video which we were most bothered about garnered an overall score of 9.00 and we remade that recently (see sig). There are always moments in our AMVs which make us wince as we wish we could have changed that shot or fine-tuned the synch at that spot, but we never feel seriously embarassed about our work.
