Trouble viewing some AMVs

Post by The Iron Maiden » Sun Nov 07, 2004 6:20 pm

Hello all, new here!

I've downloaded two AMVs now (one of which is Soldier Of Fortune by Deep Purple playing to, if I remember rightly, Tenchi Muyo and available on this website) where I get audio but no video, just the wibbly wobbly visuals you get from Windows Media Player by default with music. Videos that play alright come up as Movie Clip or Windows Media Audio/Video file when you hit Properties, but these dodgy ones come up as Video Clip.

Can anyone advise me what's going on? Cheers.

If they're avi files, you may need a codec or two. Try installing ffdshow - that will let you watch these files in Windows Media Player:

Cheers! But, errrm...which one? And will these files be watchable if I burn them to DVD?

Is that the technical term?

No offence intended, I just thought it was funny.

The codecs you probably need are divX and Xvid. Do a google search or check the guides for the links.
