Looking for flying contraptions

Post by LantisEscudo » Tue Sep 28, 2004 9:23 am

I've been kicking an idea around that involves a lot of airplanes, and am coming up blank on where to get footage.

I have plenty of footage of modern and futuristic jets, but I'm a little short on old and oddball machines. So I'm looking for suggestions of movies/OVAs/series that have strange or old flying machines. The earlier and stranger, the better, and I'm trying to keep it to 1- or 2-person craft (I'd like to avoid zepplins and airships).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I know there's a clip of a daVinci-ish contraption in Ah! My Mini Goddess.

Reference.

There's some two-person fliers in Laputa: Castle in the Sky that you might find suitable

Nadia: Secret of Blue Water (main characters all have flying machines...in 19th century France, a few years before the Wright Bros.)
Lots of Miyazaki films (Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Naussica, Castle of Cagliostro, Porco Roso...)
There's the "antique" (WWII) crop dusters in the Cowboy Bebop movie...
I think there might be usable flying machines in random episodes of Lupin TV.

Two other possible sources just remembered:

-Turn A Gundam (they use a few 'old-style' planes in the earlier episodes)

and

-Aura Battler Dunbine (the Shoot: http://www.mahq.net/mecha/dunbine/dunbine/shoot.jpg )
