If you could animate your own music video...
I'm sure this thought has crossed the minds of most of you guys. If any of you have made your own animation for a music video, that's cool, but I'd like to talk to those who would like to and don't have the resources to do so. What style of animation would you use? Traditional cel style, cel shaded or full CGI? I would use the first two options, not that I hate CGI or anything, I just have a bigger preference for the traditional style. Any particualr songs you would like to use? I would use the following, only because I, personally can't think of any anime that would work for them.
Melanie-"Weird Al" Yankovic
Someday-Nickelback
My Immortal-Evanescence (yeah, apparently this song works with just about every anime, and I still can't think of what could possibly work.)
Cheap Sunglasses-ZZ Top
Gone Away-Offspring
I Want to Come Over-Mellisa Ethridge
Hurricane-My Business Failed in 3 Weeks(Iowa City band, no longer around I think.)
Black-Pearl Jam
Bother-Stone Sour
I Still Love You-KISS
Whole Lotta Lovin-Heuy Lewis & The News
A Secret Place-Megadeth
What is Life-George Harrison
If I had my own team of Korean animators and a really big budget to work with, this would be no problem what-so-ever. Since this isn't the case, I guess these plans will go unrealized.

Well... there's too much to even mention.
Granted, I'd most likely stick with hand-drawn-looking cel-shaded graphics; and the band I currently would like to work with, but haven't found the right anime (probably due to my lack of source choices), would be King Crimson circa '72-'74, especially the improv material.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

The problem (well one of them anyway) with doing CG representatins of anime characters is that the proportions in the shows change, so the model only looks 'right' from certain angles.
I've tried doing some cell shaded CG using a combination of Poser and Lightwave. Doing 'sets' or set environments is easier since you can simply composit your characters into them and not worry so much about matching perfect character movement.
Take a look at: Playground Love to see a pretty good example of what I'm talking about.

Build a man a fire, and he will be warm for a night. Set a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

I think that was proven far FAR more hazardous of an option!Castor Troy wrote:I wish I could animate music video with my mind so I wouldn't have to worry about crap like masking.
