Post by nascentrecordings » Thu Jan 29, 2004 11:45 am

Hi

We are a very small record label based in the UK our sound is maninly progressive house & break beat, We are working with two producers in canada that are awesome and have just finished us a track , that we would love to have a video for. The dance music industry is in a decline so we are thinking of some new ideas to get our sound out there. ie vidoes , digital downloads etc . If any of you guys think that u could help us amybe part of a uni project or just have a interest in helping us please email me

I'd need to hear the song first,
But hell I'm up for anything if you want me to.

Indeed... song previews could help.

I'm not clear on this, what are you asking for? Do you want people to create AMVs using your songs or are you looking for people to create videos using non-AMV, and presumably non-copyrighted, source and figured AMV creators would be a good group to ask?

Well, more likely copyrighted source for which they have appropriate permissions. Almost everything is copyrighted, because copyright exists automatically when anything is created, unless it's explicitly destroyed or expires; the critical question is whether th ecopyrighted material is legally usable.

Making a music video for a band is quite a bit different then a plain AMV. Unless the band actually has footage already available, it will involve filming the footage which means having experience with video camera working and using atleast a proconsumer and up camera.. Otherewise depending on the money (if there is any to begin with), this part can be subbed out but can be expensive...

I've also had known a few small bands asked to get lots CGI stuff done as well, but again there was no money in it and complex CGI can get expensive and time consuming even if you know how to do it in the first place... Really, in the end, the editing of the video can be the least expensive part. One other thing to keep in mind is the ouput requirements.

There also may be possible "broadcast" requirments in terms of final format output and quality of video....

It's not like some of us can't handle doing all this, but just some things to consider if you do plan to look at doing it...
