Help..!

Post by ToraSilverheart » Mon Jan 26, 2004 2:28 pm

Ok, I'm currently making my first AMV. It's probably very sucky, but I kinda like it (all 27 seconds so far!). Trouble is, I've started maing it on Windows Movie Maker 2.0, and now I don't know how to play it on any other media player. Will it be doomed to run on that program forever? Please tell me there's some way to change the file type! ;.; Or, if there's another downloadable, easy to use program that I can get. ^^;

Thanks!

Hearts,
Tora <3

Nope, you can only output WMV files with it. I think your stuck like that unless you wanna buy an editing program.

But can't other media players play WMVs?

Maybe. I know my Media Player Classic always has difficulty playing them back though. I don't think Linux users have any method of viewing them.

I can play WMVs on the latest version of Winamp too. Not just on Windows Media Player.

Since when? :?

Version 2.0 has a DV-AVI option, just like version 1.0 had an NTSC AVI option. Wmv is simply the easiest 'conversion-free' output type. It's just a matter of converting (not too dissimilar from converting the huffyuv put out by Premiere - you use an outside converter/compressor - Vdub and TMPGEnc work well for this).

That's what I did with "Us Against the World." Worked like a charm. :)

"These Angel Hearts" was like pulling teeth though because WMM was being stubborn and would not export the avi. But thanks to Fungie and Scintilla (because I really am horrible with the technicals of encoding vids) a way was found around that.

There are many ways around wmm's bugs. ;p

So far I've never been *forced* to go with wmv as my format, you just have to tweak it a bit. ^_^;;

Wow, so WMM can export avis? You learn something new every day. I guess its the fact that every single video I have ever watched that was made in WMM was put online as a WMV file...
