Dogma 4
You know what would be interesting? It would be interesting to see some AMVs produced under a Dogme 95 style "vow of chastity" something like the following:
* Audio shall consist of one unedited CD track
* Video shall be taken from one anime TV or OAV series only
* Added materials such as hand-drawn images shall not be used
* Effects shall not be used; pre- or post-processing shall be limited to de-interlacing/IVTC
* All transitions shall be straight cuts or dissolves
* Lip sync, if any, shall be done by shfiting the timing on the entire edit (not capturing and re-arranging frames)
* The video shall not be released under a studio name
* The video shall not contain credits or bumpers
Please understand that I'm not suggesting all AMVs should be made this way; I'm suggesting it would be cool if any were. Someone who made a video under those constraints would necessarily have to focus on the "artistic" or "story" issues that people in these forums say are important.

Sounds like the masters videos I did for AWA7 & AWA9 (AWA8's had split screening... aka effect
) The AWA7 Kite video is only available in the form you described... I never added a bumper or anything. The main problem with that it people who have wanted to comment on it didn't necessarily know who edited it...
I've only done one with video untouched lip sync. It was my first
Korn-Ecaflowne-Dilandau video.
