Do you care?

Post by OmniStrata » Sat Jun 28, 2003 6:22 pm

Is it important, the events that go on in the Anime Music Video community?

I'm talking anything from the newest and bestest Dragon Ball Z vid to In the End coming out to the fact that some REALLY good editors quit...

Anything?

Do you care what people think about your videos? Do you care being here at all? Does anything matter in the AMV community to you?

I for one do care about other people's opinions to an extent. I don't think amvs are worth the effort and EXTREME amounts of time used up to make one 4 minute piece. But, when I see people look at a vid and say "hey, that made me feel better" then that's almost all the thanks I need. (throw in an opinion, critical or thankful, and that'll fill my bill ^_^)

I also care that this war has gone nuts [I for one am now standing down...] between the haters and the "righteous". Linkin' Bark Z? Dude, that's not all the bad vids... [about 90% but still NOT ALL]. Somebody needs to take a few steps to stop it. Now, "STOP ALL THE LINKIN' BARK Z VIDS!" no, that's not a fair solution. How about "TELL THEM WHAT THEY'RE DOING WRONG!" That sounds better...

I also care for the noobs who WILL get flamed for making these vids. If they'd seek help instead of get flamed, THEN we'd see the community grow much stronger. Those of you who hated LBZ vids [me included] should step up and instead of dissing them, say, "that's not good, BUT, I know a way to fix it... ^_^"

Imagine this, a world where EVERY amv (LINKIN' PARK INCLUDED!!!) had a fanbase?! Every editor and newb could look at each other without malice... [lol a Euphoria of amv community LOL] Is this possible? I BELIEVE IT IS!! I owe it in part to the two people who did NOT mind me bugging them about my first vids and help me get past that lowest point of sucking... ErMaC, icechai, this amv editor gives you his thanks...

So, do you care about this amv world we are all a part of? Do you?!

I make AMVs because I love anime, that's why I started, and that's why I shall continue. I do care about what happens to this community because its a community of people who share a very similar interest with me. However, I think its completely unfair to judge anyone based on what kind of video they make. We have to remember that we're all fans, elitism shouldn't even cross our minds.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

I like when someone likes my videos, but I don't really care deep down if someone likes my video. I put them online to share because I enjoy the hobby and I figure why not.

I *love* it when people enjoy my videos. But I wouldn't expect more than 3 or 4 people on this forum to like them, so I don't worry much. I announce them on the forums to improve my skills. ^_^ I announce them on my website to share them. 8)

So I guess I'm not too faithful to this amv community, sorry about that. Maybe when I've been here longer I will feel it as a tight-knit *welcoming* place to share the same interests with...but I think it might take a few more months, and I'll have to find some interests to share in the meantime besides skill at editing. As much as I want to improve my skills for myself and my website-group, I'm more concerned with whether I had fun than anything else, and whether I like the experience of watching my own vids. About the only concern I have with this amv community is helping the few people I've given ops to, and trying to keep the censorship to a minimum as much as one opinionated person can. :?
