Specialty awards. The coolest awards I've gotten are the Sakura-Con Clapboards that are autographed by all of the attending guests. Other then that, I like getting non-crap DVDs. Panda Go Panda! was definite win.

Ok, so it looks like people like fancy trophies and specialty items...

the original point of the thread:

I am planning on hosting an online contest and was looking at ideas for prizes to get people to enter. When and if this happens (wont have any complete details for a while so don't ask) I'm thinking, prize wise, a fancy expensive trophy, plus cash in the form of a prepaid credit card or giftcard (amount will be disclosed later), and the winning video or videos (haven't decided) will be shown and discussed by me, the winning editor(s) (if they are available), and possibly others at a major convention (think AWA). I think a specialty item would be cool but I don't have any great ideas that would be unique and worth while. I have one idea but it would replace the cash prize (expensive item plus signatures).

So, for anyone still lurking on this thread. Do you have any ideas for a specialty item that hasn't been given out at a con?

I mostly don't like getting only volume 7 DVD of certain series. They should just give the whole series or nothing at all. Trophies and stuff are cool to get, but I hide those things eventually in my room because I'm not a person that likes having those things on display. The best thing I've won was an artbook, but that's because I really like artbooks.

I just wish they just would give you a big cheesecake when you've won something!

Yea Pwolf! send pies to the winner and a camera so they can take a picture of themselves when they eat it. Or perhaps can you rig it up so it automatically takes a snapshot when they open the box lol.
