Lots of caffeine and spicy food before passing out after 35+ hrs without sleep. I get overloaded with dreams about the strangest things, even if I only sleep for a few hours. That's the same way I get inspiration to write. When I don't get stories, I get visuals. Swirly clouds, tunnels, flashing lights, textured shadows, random rapid objects and wierd filters over otherwise ordinary scenes - the sort of stuff that makes for quirky and gaudy effects when translated into amvs. Dreams are my own little theater, just my imagination keeping my brain occupied so I don't wake up. The more wired I am, the more I want to wake up. But since I push myself until I really need sleep, the dreams become more detailed and rapid-fire to keep me under. It's the best source I've found for creativity that's my own.
Of course, my dreams are influenced by everything I encounter, so I'm probably still giving credit to movies, amvs, books, and daily interraction with interesting people. ^_^;
