Truthfully when I go to make a video.
I use whatever I feel makes it look good and work the best.

Umm... Personally I don't use alot of effects, or anything like AfterEffects. But If I feel like it needs an extra something I just open up mspaint, work up something thats in my head, put it in and... Well yay?

I enjoy videos with effects, I enjoy videos without effects... In general.

I enjoy a good video.

The fact that this is even called into question is realy realy realy sad.

Thats just like saying "Can a movie be awesome if it was just cuts and fades?"

Doe anyone else think this is an absolutely ridiculous question or am I alone again.

It's a dumb question, but it is something that certain people need to be reminded of. If you've been a creator/fan long enough, you remember the old and simpler videos and are more likely to pine over anything that replicates 'em. If you're new to the scene, then naturally eye candy will dominate your reception, and corrupt your aspirations of making good videos.

Before you join this site you should be forced to sit and watch all the kevin caldwell videos. And all of Koops videos.

I'm starting to learn the effectsthat arent included with premeire but the best amv's I have seen are the ones without them. Sometimes the editor gets too caught up in the editing and not so much in the story he/she is telling. For example: Mystery Conundrum by Gypsy is one of my fave AMVs but there is tooo many special effects, inpressive but they take away from the video alot. On the other hand, I hve been told that my simple editing on Even Now I Remember is part of what makes it so good.

to each his/her own. I'm just sick of videos winning competitions on the soul fact that they have oodles of special effects even if the concept and use of effects was off. ::shrug::

I think the best word for the poster, and all those who have asked this question, would be...

... balance.
