Elvis vs. Anime it doesn't have a meaning but it is a complete parody of the original video. That's why it works for that reason if you ever read her comment section.godix wrote:As far as I can tell Euphoria is loved for it's effects and nothing else by most people. Which makes sense because the effects so overpower the story that it takes two or three viewings to even realize there is a story. I personally love Euphoria but the biggest influence it's had in my own work is to make sure that the only time I throw around tons of pointless effects is when the video is pointless to begin with. It like the old advise to writers, if you have a point then KISS but if you're just wasting time then make it as flowery as you like.Zarxrax wrote:Effect's don't make a video. If you look at the top videos with effects, they arent on the top BECAUSE of the effects... they are on top because they use the effect's to compliment their design. I know a ton of videos with better effects than Euphoria, but the videos themselves suck
As a counter-example to your thesis, consider Elvis Vs Anime. No meaning at all to the video really but it's still a good video specifically because of it's effects (well, effect. There really was just the one).
Digital Effect vids vs. Simple Digital Effects or none vids.

I swear if I was Koop I'd patent the name "Euphoria" when it's up to this forum.
The first post that Zarxrax made completely explains the popularity of "effects" videos. The effects in such videos only add more good feelings to the rest.
E*******=great story, great emotion, catchy song, original anime/song choice, original clip choice (manipulated with ep. order). Above all that he added original, shinny looking effects in order to sync almost without errors.
That video has everything! That is why 1000's of people like it.
Anyone ever tried to watch the clips (hugs, kisses, crying)?
Sure, everyone got
ed with the effecting and mainly likes it cause of the effects since they're the most obvious thing to follow in the video. When I stopped watching it cause it got boring, I rented RahXephon and got shocked after the series finished(I thought the series sucked honestly) when I comprehended what is actually Euphoria. No wonder it is the top of the AMV world. It's the complete synthesis of almost everything good in AMV's.
IMO Effects should be used whenever the creator thinks they'll add the overall feel of the video. I mainly like high-edited, effect videos. The reason...timed good, showed creators skills and what's more important...the creator got through hell while making it and I admire such people. People of strong willpower and imagination.
Effects aren't necessary, but they can do so much more for the video if used other than the video being simple fading/cutting. Of course...you yourself need to know when it's fitting, enough etc.

It is a catchy song with nice rhytm & lyrics . 60% at least enjoyed this song very much.MJ wrote:The song does it for me 100%
Whoever disagrees that the music didn't flow with the video doesn't have the eyes to look nor ears to hear.nailz100 wrote:I kinda like when the music flows with the video.
This was edited to the bone! So, pawns me completely.Bote wrote:I kinda like when the videos is edited to the bone
Not pointless, they add to the video. As for story...anyone ever followed the lyrics? Many people wrote:I dislike to see so many shiny pointless effects when a video doesn't have the story

Sure, everyone got

Amen to that. I tried to create a moving Sepia snake that would sink to the drum beats in the video. So much for that idea. I created 320 image stills with Sepia going around the screen.Otohiko wrote:I tend to stay away from effects. Technically, I tend to stay away from anything, unless I really need it. And it does all I need just fine. The maxim is: honor sufficiency.
I love effects videos, don't get me wrong, but considering the effort these things take - and for what gain - makes me stay away from them as much as I can.
When I learn easier ways to do them, or bump into something where I absolutely need something funky - alright, then we'll see...
Koop certainly had plenty of time to make those effects. I know how to do them, but I certainly don't have the time.
As for effect driven and un-effect driven, Center of the Sun is my favorite video in the whole world.
And there is nothing but fades. 8)
My AMV brings all the girls to the .org, and there like 'It's better then yours'. Damn right, it's better then yours, I could teach you, but I'd have to charge.

I think we have our next VCA champion. Add In the End remix and your set.flint_the_dwarf wrote:Alright, that's it... I've decided what my masterpiece is going to be.
