LMAO
Linkin Park + any angsty anime = instant advantage (at least in terms of crowd voting)

using Otakon as an example, Throwing Comedy or Yaoi, or Yuri, or anything with a large Fan following in your video will give a much bigger advantage than just popular source vs unpopular source ;p

Especially comedy.

On the org tho, Originality plays a much bigger role, depends on your audience really.

I dont really care about the popularity of the source as this fluctuates depending on where you are or the fandom groups you're in (ie, 'popular anime' is pretty broad, Code Geass and Gundam Seed along with a lot of mechas are largely popular anime in Japan... there are other examples such as Saiunkoku Monogatari, but these are very unpopular on a-m-v.org). I just get AMVs which use anime I like. For example if a good editor announced a good NGE AMV, I wouldn't get it. But if someone less known releases a Shakugan no Shana or Claymore AMV (maybe it is even their first AMV) then I would get it. I'm source biased, if I can't enjoy the anime then there is a high chance that I cannot enjoy the AMV. Kinda like how CrackTheSky doesn't give death note amvs above 2/5 =P

I think that overused anime (Naruto, Bleach, ect.) have a slight disadvantage over other anime that has been aired, but aren't as popular (Ouran Host Club, Death Note, ect.)

I use what I want though, regardless of popularity.

Death Note's not popular? Er...since when? If I see one more crowd of fangirls squeeing over Light walking down the hall of a convention center, I'm going to throw the book at someone. (Bad pun intended.) It might not have the DBZ mass market appeal to the kiddie crowd, but it's a juggernaut any way you look at it.

I want a yaoi-type paddle that says "Squee" so I can whack offending individuals with it. You see this paddle? It has audio sensors that automatically target certain ridiculous sounds made for ridiculous reasons. Like or "SQUEEE" or "LLLIIIIIGHTTT!!" It then automatically seeks out and silences the source of said sounds.

Hey, they have paddles, why can't I?
