I downloaded Caffiene Encomium - Childs Toy off of Kazaa, and it's great. It's not absolutely stunningly supercalifragelisticexpialiditiously awesome, but I do like the editing. Edited very painstakingly. It's not the work of a god, but it does deserve much of the credit it's getting.
By the way, if anyone's never seen it, I've got it for download on my FTP server. I"d prefer that you search Kazaa for it, but if Kazaa fails you, then you can try my server. It's often down at random times, so you might get unlucky. It's also as slow as my pet slug, so Kazaa would probably be a better bet.
That said, the server is ftp://24.24.117.168.

I think I have seen Kevin Caldwell's anime video but i'm not sure the only thing it says is Phantom of the Opera. I have showed the video to over a dozen people and none know what anime it is. I think this video is amazing and have done some research trying to find out what anime it is. Where do I find information on this anime "Memories"? My email is 8th_samurai@cox.net if anyone wants to email me. Thanks all.

The music video you're speaking of is, quite simply, called "Phantom of the Opera". The footage it is based off of is from "Magnetic Rose", one show in a collection of unreleated shows called "Memories".zombieboyfiend wrote:I think I have seen Kevin Caldwell's anime video but i'm not sure the only thing it says is Phantom of the Opera. Don't look for the "Memories" collection to be released in America anytime soon, if ever. The licensors want something like $300 million for the rights to it. You could buy the R2 DVD with English subtitles if you really want to have it, but average street price is $90. I bought a cheapo bootleg of it (the only bootleg I own) and while it is good from an artistic perspective, I don't consider it to be worth anywhere near $90.

I believe that there is One Soul in the universe. The One Soul lives, dies, and moves onto the next life. It will continue doing so until it has lived every life that has and/or will ever live, be it human, cat, tree, or amoeba. Time is non-linear to this One Soul, and thus it will be possible for a soul occupying a current life can interact with lives it may or may not have lived yet.Bahamut God wrote:I'm him too.![]()

Thus, based upon this belief, I AM KEVIN CALDWELL! Er... uhm... and technically, so are you. Uhm... and I guess that means I'm you too, and you're me, and... uh, aww forget it. I'll worry about this later, when it's my turn to be you.
Don't squash that spider crawling on the wall, either! You're committing suicide, dammit!

To correct a prior poster,
Memories was a bigtime theatrical release which came out in Japan around the same time as Ghost in the Shell. It was coordinated by Katsuhiro Otohmo <SP?> (Akira, Metropolis) and was comprised of three short features: Magnetic Rose (50 min), Stink Bomb (40 min), and Cannon Fodder (25 min. directed by Otohmo himself).
The official DVD release is around $80-90 and originally came in an LD sized box with 2 LD sized artbooks. The DVD itself came in a jewel case and had all three shorts, a 5.1 audio mix, and English soft subtitles translated by Neil Nadelman for a film-festival release.
The DVD nowadays still costs $80-90 depending on the exchange rate, but has none of the physical extras and comes in an Amray. If you check the Yahoo Japan auctions you can usually find it used for about $50-60.
I, of course, got it on the older otaku format of choice, Laserdisc, for $35 before courier fees and shipping. The LD came in a Deluxe version only and included both the artbooks, as well as an interior box with the actual discs (each disc got its own CAV laserdisc) and the now famous Tri-Face image. All of this went into the big outer box which is covered in black felt and has "Memories" and Otohmo's kanji stamped in silver and red foil, respectively. The LD has English subtitles (same as the DVD) on the Closed Caption track, and the 3rd LD includes an image gallery (CAV, 1 frame=1 image) as well as a documentary. I don't know if these are included on the DVD.
This movie rocks, but I've now seen it more times than I'd ever care to think of, and I only watch it now when someone ELSE needs a copy.
