Originality is a mark I sort of just don't like. It's very nondescript.
In actuality, for instance, people have frequently (as I like to say) accused me of being original, whereas I'm not so much original as just faithful to my own interests. If my interests were to lie in an unoriginal direction, that wouldn't really stop me.
Anyway, if you can't be objective, you can at least try.
If you can't be original though, do yourself a favour and
don't try. Being able to follow your intentions in spite of others' views is the only way to stay true to your creativity, which is sometimes achieved by the exact reverse of what is often (mistakenly) called originality.
