True.

The reason I was ticked was more or less because of the fact that the creator was being spiteful, arrogant, and ended up doing exactly the same thing as they claimed they were improving (the spiteful and arrogant comments are just how I perceived them, whether their words were intended to come across that way or not). Not to mention that they used a bad translation and just ended up making a crap video full of n00b mistakes (if I remember correctly; I have no desire to watch the video again). That's just the icing on the cake.

(if I seem to be in a bad mood it's because I haven't been feeling very well lately)

While the Remake by The Zero Saber is no longer avaliable for download as far as I know, it was a good remake, using DVD footage aside from the vhs looking quality of Brad's video (unless he himself has remastered the video since then), and was faithful up till the ending action portion of the video as Zero himself said he picked the action up a little bit more. While I dunno if he was granted Brad's blessing to do this or not, he did give all the due credit to Brad for the original concept.
Anecdote: I was actually at AWA waiting for the elevator, when Demoss came careening through the hall in a drunken half-rage saying quite loudly "Did you hear? Some guy remade my Rhythym of Heat video! Can you believe that? Some little shit second guessing MY edits? I can't fucking believe it!"

He was pissed but no one really gave a shit
LMAO, I'd pay to see that.

I had a good friend try to remaster my Nausicaa AMV many years ago and I didn't mind at all. I only had Warriors of the Wind as source material, and he had the laserdisc of Kaze no Tane no Nausicaa. Fair enough for the early 1990s. Who wouldn't want a gorgeous letterbox version of their work when it otherwise wouldn't have been possible?

It was to have been a shot-for-shot remaster with no attempts to "improve" it otherwise, but the punchline is that there's a nice shot of Nausicaa landing her glider that is clear and uncluttered in Warriors but has titles laid over it in Nausicaa. Score one (and only one) for crappy American hack jobs.

As long as you contact the original creator about the Remaster/Remake and talk things over with them things should be fine.

I've done something like this already. I had contacted DSEH about remaking his first vid which I thought was cool but had a lot of problems. He responded with a definate 'go right ahead' so I started up on it. I did end up changing alot with his original vid but kept many of the same scenes intact. Anyway, by the time I was done I was worried I may have changed it too much and recontacted him about it. I sent him the finished version that I had come up with and he was thrilled with it. So much in fact he asked me to post it up, so I did. I thought I had informed him of this but he ended up reposting it 8 months later.. Ah well, his title seems to suit it a better.

Anyway, the whole situation seems to have helped him more then hinder him and for that I'm pretty grateful. Cause I like his concepts and enjoy seeing them work. 8-)

I don't think anyone would want to remaster any of my stuff considering I have atleast one composition shot in the video somewhere, even if it's not noticable.... Interesting to see how long it would take someone to find out that an actual shot does not exist

Is a composition shot like a hand drawn frame, or a shot of something that isnt related, or.....?

"Composition" usually refers to taking something (a character, an object, whatever) from one scene and plopping it into another scene where it didn't originally exist.

Vlad did a lot of this in "Transcending Love" to create a love story between 3 characters from three different anime series.

Perhaps the most classic example of this in AMVs is Weibelius/E-Ko (will someone explain to me, why DOES he show up on the Top Favorites list as Weibelius??)'s "Tainted Donuts", in which the bounty hunters of Cowboy Bebop go after Vash from Trigun for the $$60B bounty on his head.
